I've been out of the SEO game for sometime and mainly focused on ppc for 6 years.

I'm trying to rank a popular law firm in a very competitive area. I now have accounts for avvo, findlaw, justia, lawyers and nolo. With these sites I'm ordering 5 star content from textbroker and the good thing is I do open orders, so each piece of content has it's own style.

Now that I created over 40 tier 1 links (blogs on lawyers.com, company profiles, guest blogs on martindale, press release and other great legal directory niche sites, quality web 2.0 sites.)

What would be best advice on how to find good solid tier 2 links? I'm finding odd old skool php directory links from ahrefs on competitors who rank but not sure if I should use those as tier 1 or tier 2.

I have somewhat of an understanding of with tier 2 links (PBN, social bookmarking, social signals) any other suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, you will need a lot more than just great backlinks. You have to create awesome content for people to reach you organically.

I suggest you learn basic and advanced seo techniques, which will greatly help you ranking for real tough keywords as well as longtails and LSI.

Yea we're doing outreach for scholarship programs to edu links and trying to create awesome info graphics and funny or interesting Top 10 blogs (top 10 highest verdicts, top 10 most odd PI cases, etc... to share) We do have over 1,000 pages now and most of them rank for long tail. I heard about LSI and another attorney told me about AlchemySEO.

I'm also looking for a seoyoast pro too. If there are any here (im sure there are thousands), please PM me.

you'll need quality backlinks (and avoid low quality/ spammy PBNs)...
Create a lot of high quality contents and stay consistent with it..

Try dropped domains of law practices in your target region

Notice I said 'region' not city

That's the clincher (and also makes this advice practical)

Revive those dropped domains' link juice

Every law firm site that was doing SEO a few years back will have a bunch of those php directory links. Ignore them, they're worthless and generally toxic in the legal niche. Plenty of sites have spent a lot of time removing them or disavowing them.

One quick question: what do you mean by "Tier 2?" As that term is used around here, it usually means a link to an external page that links to your website. As in, Tier 1 pages have links to your site, you strengthen the authority of the Tier 1 links by building additional links to those pages. That next layer is the "Tier 2."

Seems to me you mean "Tier 2" more like "lower authority links to your site," e.g. the php directories. It's pretty common for law firms to have piles and piles of crappy links to them, DA <15, etc. Whether it helps is another matter. Still common in the niche to do everything from comment spam to profile links; sometimes it works, sometimes it's asking for a penalty.
