My boss hired a 3rd party SEO company and they took him for a ride. They simply ran an SEO audit on all sites, which takes minutes and charged him 3,000. He could outsource the project for 100.00 but they don't listen t a brotha.

ANyways, all audits were near perfect.

However the issues they did find, they were all sent to me to fix. Which is not a big issue, only took a few minutes.

But shouldnt all SEO companies know how to fix these simple issues in any backend (cms, static)?? They even had access to all our of logins to make these changes because i was going on vacay.

    What do you guys think?

I know right. His problem is that he talks to everyone who cold calls and falls for "Google is on the line". from our secretary...then I get the dreaded email. "Google just called and we're going to have them work on some sites" I instantly LOL when he falls for it.

You've got a good boss. Work for him as an external consultant instead of an employee, and charge him thousands. Tell him you will work for google from then point on.

No, we auditors don't want to fix your mess. We know what's up and we know if you're a fraud. Our job is to identify the crappy SEO and let the bosses know. I've gotten a few Indian SEOs and their "white hat backlinking" asses fired. They come to people like me because they aren't ranking and need to know if those lame directory and Twitter junk posts really are what they suspect they are -- junk.

I don't want to do SEO at all. But I've done quite a few audits and helped plenty of business owners.

You can train a monkey to use any auditing tool report and echo the errors to clients. But only a small percentage of auditors can fix an SSL redirection or a simple canonical url fix.

I can do both, but I limit liability and let you monkeys fix your work. The only tool I uses is majestic for backlink audits. Everything else I do by knowing that 99% of "white hat" SEOs are shit.

Just shows how easy it is to charge a lot for no work with a brand name.

Who said we aren't working? Employers pay me for my background and knowledge. Most of the time, I'm auditing some supposed white hat SEO who flooded some site with shitty PBN links or sent reports with their "white hat" SEO that includes directories, shitty article submissions and Twitter/FB spam. I caught one shitty Indian SEO posting the wrong site to someone's Twitter feed. There's nothing for me to fix other than to tell the owner that he should fire said Indian SEO. Wouldn't you want to know if said Indian SEO was doing that type of shit? You really think he's gonna tell you that he's posting the wrong URLs to social media or fucked up something as basic as not putting meta descriptions on all pages?

99% is an understatement. But bosses like yours want to feel comfortable going with the big guys and end up burning their money. Unfortunately your boss got what he paid for and agreed to.

Take note, these white hat aholes don't have a clue how the real world SEO works. They run a tool they bought from Moz and call it a worthwhile audit. I cannot tell you how many times I go to SEO meetups just for the laugh, especially when Moz is hosting it. You get all the white hat trolls out and after a 5 minute conversation quickly realize they are living in a delusional world.

Yep, most of my customers are US SEOs who don't know what they are doing and hired some offshores SEO for backlinking and got what they asked for. I can't really blame the Indian SEOs when they are told to create backlinks, but their "white hat" efforts are always classifieds, random junk directories, article submissions, and social media spam. But, the US companies pay for that junk and then want to know if it's legit after their customer's site doesn't go anywhere.

Something that always amuses me is when there are multiple Indian SEO companies and they are both trying to sabotage each other either with links or by telling the owners that the other is doing blackhat SEO. LOL

Note to US SEOs outsourcing junk links: Just stick to one Indian company or you'll have the headache of them trying to sabotage each other.
