What is the SEO benefit of getting a high PR link, but with a naked URL or brand name as anchor text?

There are some industry relevant directories (good quality) that I could get a link from, but the anchor text would either be the brand name or a naked URL. I'm trying to understand the cost/benefit for chasing after these types of links since it requires a little bit of work to find these directories.

I still think Guest Posts and Blog Comments have the highest SEO benefit.

Because it looks more natural. Google likes more natural link growth and placement. It does hamper the time period in which the site ranks, as you are link building on multiple keywords rather then few but its the way google likes it.

Absolutely. It makes your backlink profile appear natural. You NEED these kind of links, especially high pr links with natural anchor text.

Over the past 6 months I've increased my anchor diversity percentage of naked URLs and brand name from about 5% to about 30%! Seems to be working wonders for me.
