So I am currently working on a new project. It's a ebook and its something unique, never been done. My question is as I have researched this and researched this. What is the best way of accepting payment other than gaypal?

I have a gaypal, but I'm expecting this product to be huge (gotta think big right?) and really don't want to deal with the obvious problems of gaypal. (account frozen, chargebacks/refunds, etc...)

Only other option I can come up with is CB. Sounds pretty good, they will pretty much help you sell your product with ease then send you a check after you have provided everything.

Then of course your product has to get approved by CB to get listed. So I need a backup option of accepting payment as I do not want to use gaypal. Any one else here use other payment processors or any other alternate forms of accepting payment for ebook products? Something that is trusted and has buyer confidence associated with it.

How about Google Checkout? In my opinion, they win hands down over PayPal. Its stricly credit card processing...they transfer the sale amount to your bank account every other day...and when you get a chargeback, they actually work in the SELLERS favor! (or at least I have had great luck with them over gaypal)

You know LOL...I feel like an idiot now. HAHA... I don't know how I forgot about google checkout. Just during my research nothing was mentioned about using it for accepting payments for an e-book.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

However second question would be which would be the best way to go about doing this? Would I do better selling on CB or selling it myself? That is the question!

You might check out e-junkie. I have not used them personally, but I haven't heard anything bad about them.

^^e-Junkie use PayPal to process payments.

xzyber, you might want to reconsider using PayPal since you'll lose out on a lot of business if you use something else. (Unless your eBook really does become a hit and is quite highly priced then that's a different issue.)

Yea that's what im afraid of....

I believe for what I am doing I am going to try and hit CB and try to become a vendor. I think I can get my product approved as it's not a Black Hat related product or anything.

This is probably going to be my first step trying to get approved with CB after my project is ready to launch. But with anything there are pros and cons.

With CB (from what I have heard and read) you can not really have one on one contact your affiliates and have access to them from what I have heard. So your list building of affiliates will be not available for when you launch future products.

As with CB the affiliates are already there to help sell my product and I can get a better launch that way. CB also accepts paypal, so I wouldn't have to really deal with paypal myself as CB will deal with paypal and send me a check. Kind of like a third party type deal. The almost ($50) fee CB charges which is only if they accept your product is well worth it to me as thats like a one time advertising cost and affiiliates will pick up your product and advertise it for you. Sounds like a great deal to me!

As with selling it myself through my own payment processor I can have one on one contact with my affiliates and build a list for future product launches. But, I'm new to this selling your own product thing...so starting out without any affiliates at all and gotta go find them myself would be the issue. Meaning I would be spending quite a bit of money on advertising, and with anything...anything can flop.

So my strategy now is to first try to get accepted with CB as a vendor with my product, if that doesn't work im moving on to another strategy and using google checkout then im hitting some of these forums I've read about that has affiliates just waiting on you to launch a new product for them to promote. Sounds like a little more time involved in the "Selling it yourself" strategy. As it sounds so easy just to pay $50 bucks get it listed with CB then set back and watch affiliates sell your products for you. (my kind of style right there)...

Anyways, thanks for all the comments guys! Hopefully this project doesn't flop...but as I have always said theres always a sucker born every minute, so I should at least sell one copy...me having maybe 5 hours in the project and sell my product for $100 or even $50 that leaves me with $20-$10 per hour for my time...hehe you can never lose at this game.

Want to give any insights to my strategy I would like to hear them!
