    BHW,

    I have a product targeting M/W age: 13-17 and a little W age:18-24.

i have a hunch my sales video is holding me back from conversions (after about 800 visits and only 1 sale)

    disappointing because its well scripted...
but i think that's the problem, this age group doesn't respond to "well-scripted".

So now I'm thinking of going rouge. adding popular music, shortening the video and highlighting the 'lifestyle' rather than the benefits...

So I ask you copywriters of BHW. What makes teens buy? What type of sales videos do they respond to?

I've found it hard to sell to teens just because most of them don't have access to a credit card. So depending on your niche, it might just be something they don't have the means of buying or they don't want to get permission from their parents to buy it. I switched over to targeting women ages 25-40 and it hardly matters what I write, they still convert.

Perhaps someone else here can provide better information. I stopped targeting that age group quite a while ago.

Thanks for the reply. I was dreading that response!.. even though there is truth to it.
I feel like teens have also grown up never having to buy something online in their life. Hell, I'm older and i feel like even I haven't...

However, I know that they're are others in this niche making money and I've spent too long developing the product to turn back now.
Even if it doesn't convert at a super high level I still KNOW I can get the conversion rate up.

My opt in rate has been consistent 6-7% for that same site for a free product so i know they want the info. Just a matter of selling it harder hopefully.
    *fingers crossed*

you need to try going for pay per download...they will not buy items as much but will enter info to download anything and everything out there. if you have a tangible item... you have your work cut out for you

There's hope for you, before I found this forum I was doing a method that generated 600+ sales and I'd say 80% of them were to teenagers. This might sound a bit stupid, but dumb it down a bit. Trust me, it works.

Watch MTV for 30 minutes - that's what teenagers respond to!

It's really tough to sell to teenagers. There are many of them who can easily be convinced but unfortunately, they don't have access to credit cards and don't have any ways for paying. There are also others who don't take them seriously so it can get real tricky. I agree as well with PPD. It's a good shot for you.

Interesting! I know several teens in my locality who indeed have access to credit cards! Hmm, maybe they are exceptions to the rule!

I'm a teen (16 years-old) and I know that nobody of my peers has a card, neither would I have one if there wasn't IM.

Try PPD as some people already suggested.

teens dont' have access to creditcards usuall

they are best to drive traffic/social interactions to your site, but thats about it.

you need something else to make cash from them. that does NOT involve getting cash out of their pocket.

If you can't get money out of their pocket, they will still happily pay your bills without knowing it (think of all the social media photos/videos spread around by teens, not realizing somebody is earning from their ads/traffic)

My apologies for your product, I know it is possible to sell...but teens are best suited for traffic revenue/ad clicks than buying something themselves.

Ahh man it's real tough to sell to them. Most of them do not have a payment option. Waste of time IMO.

Advertisement example.. "Hey, buddy.. did you see those boots and shirts people wearing? pffft they are lame for ya, yall should spit on their faces yo by purchasing my shirts like NOW, because YOLO, you guys. Don't be lame like those gramps, buy my merchandise and you'll be respected in da hood, WOORD~"

And in the video, there should be a guy with a full-cap, wearing J.B. haircut and swagging all around with his hands and bling blings. :D

I agree with the rest that it is hard to sell to the teens.

*Alexp3412, I am curious what did you sell to the teens and how you do it?
    Possible to share?
