Hey guys just came up with this idea of selling websites on sitepoint. I am about to start a project that will last for 6 months.

Alright my plan is to buy 10 good domains and make sites on profitable niches as like golf course or tennis tips (haven't thought fully about this). So here what I will do, create 10 websites with wordpress and best templates I can find out there.

Then for 6 months develop that websites, 100% focus on these development for 6 months, post as many articles (rewrites) and do as much seo as possible (both whitehat and blackhate seo - with tools). Now for 6 months all the work will be on developing the sites, hit high ranks in SE and get as much traffic as possible.

Revenue = adsense + some cpa offers.

Then after 6 months sell it on sitepoint for $5000 each site or maybe more. Let's just say $5000 one site, that will be $50,000 in 6 months.

Now all I want to know, is it doable or I am dreaming lol :) Need your suggestions.

Edit : SEO can be outsourced too ;)

yes its doable but it will take alot of work, for a site to sell for 5000 it will need to generate quite alot of $ in a month and making 10 sites for quite alot of $ a month is something really hard.. odds on at the end of the day if there making enough money on the sites to value at $5000 then you would make more in the long run keeping them

If a site's monthly revenue is $500, can the site go as up to $5000 in sale?

    Hi Guys

As someone who sells websites, heres the problem:-

    1. For one thing i can only develop 1 or 2 sites at a time. With all the bookmarking, article writing etc you just cannot handle it.

    2. As soon as you get a successful website that has traffic guess what? You will wanna keep it. One of my sites started earning $80 per day from Adsense. Who's gonna sell a site that earns big bucks? That same site now earns on average $200 per day. Would i sell it. No way unless your gonna offer me $500k

So one of the things i do is develop a great looking site as you say then sell it for between $150-$400 each. The websites are full of unique content, SEO'd to the hilt and look great and are ready for someone else to do the work and develop them.

    Good luck

a monthly revenue of 500$ would add up to 3000$ in 6 months. If you keep the site further and market it in a better way from there on, you could achieve much more than 5000$. besides, once you've sold those 6 sites, what then? 50k isn't gonna last forever. All that you'll probably do then is rinse and repeat. Why not keep the hen the lays the golden egg rather than sell it off because of a boner for a single one?

Hmm guys you all came up with a good point, I guess i will keep those sites and if I really need some cash, will sell them and make new 10 sites, bigger and better with those $$ i get:)

SEO can be outsourced fully ;)

if you have 10 sites each making $500 (which would be very hard but awesome) thats like $3000 a month so your going to make $18,000 in 6 months, tho you will have a income every month insted of a lump some and you having to start again

alcoholic - $500 at the end of 6th month before selling the site cse just need to show a proof right that the site have achieved highest revenue. 10 sites will be $5000 a month and if I sell it for $3000 each = $30,000. Then take that $30K and start 20 sites and do all the SEO outsourced and better ;) It can work in a cycle you see :)

    dmed123 - :D Yes of course outsourcing ;)

that's exactly right, the going prices for ready to go websites is about 10x the monthly revenue so, in all honesty, if you work hard, in my opinion you could definitely do it.

Yes you can do it. I don't think it should be that hard if you have a good outsourced team to work with.

I used to build new web sites and then sell them on SitePoint. Like shafty, some of my sites took off in the beginning and I had second thoughts about selling them. In my auction listings I stated that I built these sites with the same quality as several that I own that are already profitable and if they were not sold I would gladly keep them. That sent my prices higher and I got a ton of bids.

Oddly enough the ones I wanted to get more money for and worked hard on to pump up the revenue I still own because they continued to earn more and more money every month. It's hard to sell something that is consistently earning you money even though the lump sum sometimes is a lot.

I think a lot of people are doing that already so you see many of the sites in the listings are few months old..

First of all, handling 6 sites is a lot of work.

Second, nobody will pay you $5k for a blog that makes $1-2 and to get $5k for a blog it has to be making at least 200-500 a month man. I been flipping so I know..

Third, sitepoint runs on PageRank, if you have a domain with PageRank put it up for sale and someone will buy it from you.

They love PR, really big time, now if you have cash and want to make 10-20k a month, then try to get in private auctions where you can steal pr 5-6-7 domains for pennies and then u can sell them for at least $2k-10k each...

Your trick might work if you make 6 sites and then sell all of them together, someone might pay you 500-1000 ...

I was thinking about doing something similar. its hard to sell start up sites now because of all the crap that scares away the buyers.

PM me if you want to work together on this project

The reason being man sitepoint is infested by scammers.

People steal the domain but then do paypal charge back, others try to sell domains that they don't even own.

But I think sitepoint was a goldmine back in early 2007, now its full of junkies, I hardly see any good buyers, mostly SCAMMERS who will bid high and try to get your domain and then do paypal chargeback, others who are legit they are cheap..

If you are into flipping, first never sell through paypal unless you realy know the person. 2nd, have multiple accounts to operate after you have sold 2 sites from same account selling the 3rd one is just TOOOOOO hard I have found out...

I am gonna do this, confirmed ! :D

After 6 months, I will see how much each site makes, currently I will target a low $200 - $300 each site from ads space and also some affiliate offers. With 10 sites, it will make a monthly revenue of $2000 - $3000 steadily.

Then I'll see how it goes, but it'll be sad to sell those sites tbh :)

Be keen to see how you go with it. Sounds like a great plan and will test it on one site to see how it goes

if you can make 10 sites each making 500$ then you should just keep them....and outsource linkbuilding....and make more websites....

i never did website flipping but i think a good thing to do is selling only sites that suck for income but have high pagerank and look nice
