Got into selling seo about 3 years ago, life was smooth sailing for like 2 years as many renewed... in the meantime i no longer cold called/sold seo and ventured into other online ideas with my new confidence and fat bank acct... . I let my SEO accts dwindle to just a few now because i thought i would no longer have to sell SEO. For the first time in years my income is not paying the bills. I feel like Will Ferrel in Anchorman when he was eating that plate of shit in the restaurant, each byte tastes worse than the last but he continues eating it anyway. I've been on the phone again about 6-8 weeks, getting my ass handed to me right and left.

Keep fighting until you get back on top. P.U.S.H - persist until something happens.

Hard Work and/or idiots - the world is full of idiots, well technically they might be good at what they do but terrible at IT etc - I personally target small firms in my local area - 4/5 people usually have no one that does the IT and offer them a free IT review or something that gets you sat in front of them and then goto work on gathering as much info as you can.

I'd call Mondays, set my appointments for the week and go from there, you get so much more sitting in front of them. Once your asking the questions, ask everything about the business really get into the nitty gritty, how does that work? Why do you do it like that?

And then i'd focus on what I wanted, so how many sales you make online? who are your competitors? How many sales do they make? Whats your average order? What does your existing SEO company do?

Chances are they are going to know very little and you swoop in with some facts about their niche, keywords, time to rank and then build in his answers, so if he's telling you his average order value is £200 and its takes 50 customers for every sale and you think you can rank him and get him 1000 clicks a month then sell it in its simplest terms - money in their pocket.

"Actually from what you've said and the research ive done, you can achieve 20 extra sales a month, after my costs (£500) that could generate an extra £3500 in revenue per month, how does that sound?"

And this is where you should come across as passionate and you need to know all the answers so you're building the rapport and they think, actually this guy knows what he's on about, then ask for the sale, everyone tends to do the hard work and then bottles the easy bit.

Try and remember, these people set up their companies for a variety of reasons and are passionate about them becoming successful, I guarantee not many are started to figure out how to set up permissions on the folders on their P2P network :D

Any way good luck, smile while you dial and all that - it does work
