I recently had a question. What segment of the population is most likely to spend money online? I think this kind of information can help create better facebook campaigns.

Does anyone know of any research on this?

Like are 20-30 year olds more likely to buy? How about 40-50? Men/women?

How likely are teenagers to buy?

I know it depends on the niche, but there must be some facts as to who is most likely to spend money online.

I think I have read it is the 40 - 50 years old group because they have the most money.

Seniors buy a lot too.

College kids and divorced women are the brokest people in the world.

I think it rather depends on what items you are talking about. I would imagine however that the 30-50 crowd has the most money and is the most comfortable online. I know many over 50 fear the idea of giving out personal information on the internet, under 30 and you're probably broke. But for low cost items, the 15-30 crowd might be your best bet.

i think you more or less got it right.
20-30
40-55

contrary to popular beliefs, the stats have shown that teenagers are not likely to buy.
females are a little more likely to make online purchases, as compared to their male counterparts.

It depends on the niche you are looking to target, let's say the mobile phones niche, you'll see half the kids holding an iPhone.

it really depends on the niche. If for example you are in the ringtone niche...your buyers will be less than 30.

If you'r in a niche with health problems...your buyers will be older.
