Hi guys,

I desperately need a new laptop (my current one is 5 years old and weighs about 10 pounds!)

Here's what I'm looking for:

No more than 14" screen (preferably 13" or below)
Lightweight
Long battery life
At least 2mg RAM
No more than about $1,800 US

I travel almost constantly and need to lug this thing around all day, so LIGHTWEIGHT is top of my list! And I work in cafes for hours at a time, so battery life of 4 hours plus is really important.

I'd be really grateful for any recommendations - I'm buying in Australia, but we pretty much have all the laptop brands everyone else has, so recommend away! I know there's some heavy-duty users on this forum, so BHW opinions are going to carry some weight!

Thanks heaps,

Ness

You may want to check out dell laptops.
They are the best ones for your price and requirements.
Just a suggestion!

I have a Dell xps notebook.

They are good little notebooks, not the cheapest but good quality. I had soso experience with other Dell products but so far the xps rocks.

They meet all your requirements

If you are open to have bigger screen, take a look at Alienware, they are even better IMO

I'm probably the lone freak on this forum, but for my money and your restrictions, I'd go with a MacBook Air. I'm a dedicated Apple guy myself.

lenovo thinkpad x200 - a very nice machine, lightweight and fuckin awesome battery life

12.1", 2.4ghz p8600, 2-4gig ram, 9cell battery gives me about 8-10 hours.

Just think Bestbuy. They generally have the best laptop deals out there. Check their weekly ads and look for the laptops that have a large instant rebate.
