I'm currently working full time at an office job and doing IM in my spare time but have hit the point where I kinda know what I'm doing and really want to dedicate a lot more time to IM and see what I can achieve!

I've currently got about $7k saved up and in 2014 have made an average of $850/month online (read my journey here).

Ideally, I'm wanting to move to a cheap foreign country for a few months to really get my head down and focus on my IM but also have a great time and enjoy my freedom!

I was just wondering if anyone on here has done this and if so, if you'd be willing to share some insight on where you live and what it's like living there?

Also, if you're wanting to do the same thing as me but haven't moved yet, get in the thread as it would be interesting to share ideas!

EDIT: A lot of people are dismissing my question saying I can't live on what I'm making.

Firstly, you definitely can live on that much in certain parts of the world. Secondly, I'm not planning on living on that much. I have money saved up and the idea of the trip is to spend 8+ hours a day on my projects as opposed to about 2 at the moment and make a lot more money!

I'm not planning on moving permanently, just for a few months to focus on my internet businesses and have fun, then return home. Then if I'm still not making enough on the internet, get a job back home with some new sites set up that should generate me a lot more side income!

There a quite a lot of people here doing IM abroad. I think the Far East seems to be a top destination.

Yeah that seems like the most obvious option and would be pretty cool! I've been reading a lot of articles about it but most seem to be written by "writers", not people who've actually experienced it so I'm looking for some real life opinions. Are you based in London? That's where I want to be living eventually and hopefully later this year.

I am actually thinking of doing the same thing, that is, living abroad for a few months so I can focus on my projects and enjoy life at the same time.

After having read previous such threads it seems like Thailand and Spain are countries to be considered, but I am always open to more suggestions. Lately I have also been looking at Netherlands.

One for sure, I am going to LA once my income is stable enough!

Just move, get the residency and get an accountant there to do your numbers.

If you are pretending to keep your residency then talk to a local advisor in your area.

Yeah Thailand seems like the most obvious one. A lot of other Asian places look popular though and cheap like Phillipenes, Vietnam, Malaysia etc. Berlin is somewhere I love which I was thinking about but on second thoughts, I probably want somewhere a bit cheaper. Krakow is great too and Eastern Europe might be a good option seeing as I live in the EU anyway but I'm not sure it would be as easy living somewhere like that as a foreigner. I may be totally wrong though. I know Romania has some of the fastest internet speeds in the world for example.

    What drew you to Spain?

Thailand is great, but if you need a lott of internet speed outside of thailand, this might be a problem. International download speeds are crap!

Have you been there? If so, where in Thailand? Where in Europe are you living right now and would you recommend that?

First, it's the weather, of course! I'd like to move somewhere where I can get fresh locally grown produce all year around and Spain seems to be a good one for that. Other than that, from what I have read, the cost of living is not that expensive too.

Also, as I live in Europe myself, I believe it would be a good country for the first destination compared to, for example, Thailand, which is very far away.

At about $850 per month you are not in a good shape to make this kind of decision yet, even though you have money saved up.

Don't forget that IM is just like any business, you have the good times and you have the bad times, so that $850 can easily drop to $300 or none.

    Just saying.

Portugal. Better than Spain because you live with less. Things here arr cheaper. Internet speed is awesome. But i agree 850 USD is too low for you live Well. Think in 1000 uros monthly and you will live very well.

i did it..and it was great. Cost of living much lower..no taxed (lol) even on $4k month i lived like a king. Western Society i need $13k+ to be on the same level. Tax, tax and more tax..that's all i ever seem to see these days.

If i wasn't married with kids i could easily do it again.

it also depends where you are going. Want to make say $7k month and hang around the beach all day great. Go for it.

You want to build a big, real business up it probably won't work.

With this Budget you just have to forget about any European countries (you would spend that money on a decent flat). So there is only Asia or Africa (but even in Africa it depends where you are, so the budget would not be enough for South Africa.) Tanzania is cheap, Burundi is cheap, Malawi would be an option. We tour Africa and make our living through Internet on our trip.

I don't really think I made my intentions that clear, I just edited the OP so read it now! This isn't going to be a permanent move - just for a few months to put me in a much better situation for when I return home.

First of all the people who say you can't do it on that amount of money are idiots and probably haven't really traveled much. I travel while I work and am on my third year of traveling. While I traveled through about of the states in the USA, Jamaica, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and currently I live in Nicaragua. You could live at any of these places on the budget you speak of, internet won't be greak unless you live in the city, but it is certainly do'able and pretty decent considering. Personally I always live on the beach and generally in an area where I can surf during the day. As I get bored, I move on to another location. My FB is loaded with sick photos from my travels and I could probably make a nice travel blog but don't feel like it. Anyway, hit me up if you have any questions and you can get answers from someone without actual experience instead of just from a bunch of guys that can't hack it and want to tell you no.

    Hey man,

What I want to visit in a quite short time period is:
Lithuania -> Thailand -> Egypt -> India -> Mauritius -> Turkey -> Florida (US) -> Mexico -> Hawaii (US) -> Cuba (US) -> Spain and other exotical countries. (I guess I need at least $50-100k for this).
Saving money as never before just to have this goal completed! I'll make a journey thread when everything is set and ready :)
But for you I highly suggest Thailand.

    To success!

You can make it work in Southeast Asia on that kind of money, but you will not be living that great in typical tourist areas. I would suggest Chiang Mai or the north of Thailand as opposed to any beach areas or Bangkok as your budget would be too tight to have a decent quality of life.

I say give it a go if you want to see what you are made of, worst case scenario you head home and back to the regular 9-5 if you fail. Just keep that in mind when you are working abroad and it will give you some extra motivation to make it happen. ;)

EDIT: Currently in Thailand now doing the same, PM me if you want more info or Visa advice for staying long term.

I'm surprised, everyone always tells me how cheap Southeast Asia is but if you can't live decent there on $850 a month it couldn't be that cheap. I know of places in Central America where you can live on the beach at this price and live quite well. Personally I spend a lot mor than this per month because I'm always on the move so I rent one place where I keep all of my stuff but then am always paying for another room and I go out to nice places pretty much every day which adds up.
