Yeah, anyone notice that the Coldplay song "Viva La Vida" isn't going anywhere as far as the charts are concerned? Top 100 for over a year is pretty sweet. I guess the trick is to not use typical instruments. :)

No, the song just sounds awesome, if they would go all crazy and just press a few random keys and hit a few random notes and scream like mad in the mic it wouldn't become a hit.

In that case they would be the Mars Volta.

I honestly can't stand Coldplay I think they're terrible. They must be doing something right though.

Coldplay = gay. They rip off other songs, that's why they're hits..

Here's how you get a hit. Have a catchy melody in the chorus. That's all. Hit! Verses can suck ass, everything can suck ass, but if you have that catchy chorus, hello hit! Oh and it has to be marketed properly too.

Yah and Fall Out Boy must be doing something right too. Taking advantage of teenagers! For lyrics all you have to do is relate to teenagers and you win. Teenagers will listen to ANYTHING that relates to them and explains their own situation. All you have to do is find something all teenagers go through, and write a song about it. It's kinda like choosing SEO keyword LMAO. You gotta find something with not so much competition (unless your really good), and something that is experienced quite a bit by teenagers.
