    Hey guys,

I use SSEC and i'm interested in SEC.

Does it have a link network like Atchy?

Can it be easily scalable (millions of sites) and can it use wildcard DNS?

Why would anyone switch from SSEC to SEC? It's so out of date. THe SEC ip list only has around 2,000 ip's compared to the nearly 30,000 in the ssec database. Oh, and no, atchy is only for ssec, and last I used sec it took quite some time to setup each site where as ssec can do thousands or tens of thousands at a time with ssec+.

    Hey BlueMagic,

This is Andrew or anadeau over on cloakingforums(dot)com, which is the support forums for SEC. I am also the guy who developed EWI, which is a complementary product to SEC that a lot of people use in combination with SEC. I actually found BHW because people were talking about SEC and EWI.

I haven't used SSEC personally, but from what I hear it is a very good tool. To be perfectly honest with you about SEC, it has been neglected for about a year now. Peter, the owner of SEC, seems to be MIA. The forums used to be a phenomenal source of information and support was top notch, but recently they have died and have become overridden with spam.

This is coming from a guy who uses SEC and has a financial stake in SEC's success with EWI. If you are having success with SSEC then I see no reason to make the switch.

Andrew, have you ever thought about developing tools for SSEC? There are actually 4 pieces of software offered there, and all of them are updated at least monthly. They have a team of developers and a VERY active community (been that way for 3+ years now). You could definitely make a living selling some quality supplemental tools over there.

    1EightT,

I'm actually working on my own stand-alone software right now that is looking very promising. I'd made the decision not to build any more complementary products as your business becomes at the mercy of the success of another product.

When I built EWI I actually sort of fell into that position. EWI was originally a custom script that I used personally. When I showed it to some fellow SEC users they were really impressed and recommended that I sell it, so then I redesigned the software for resale.

We are still working on this other software right now, so I don't want to give any specifics. However, when I need some beta testers and am ready to launch I will make a post on BHW.
