So I got a new .com few days back via godaddy and today I had a mail sent via sendimau.com-

I found this pretty funny, went ahead to see what happens next. Filled out some random info and the next page required me to pay 97$ to continue (They gave 75% off OMG!)

Opening this thread so that noobs do not fall for this shit.

They're scrapping newly registered domain.. If you dont have any privacy, you will have more chances of receiving that kind of message.

I don't know if you're serious or just increasing post count to sell the account later.

Yes I have gotten these with every new domain I have bought past couple weeks - the thought had crossed my mind, as stated above, that perhaps Godaddy is selling this info now - because if they are scraping it, they are suddenly on point like never before - my hats off to them. On one hand I have to respect the hustle, but on the other - it hurts anyone that sells web design or SEO services down the road to have people getting instantly ripped off within 24 hours of buying a domain. Also, it certainly can't be helpful to submit your domain to Google's index before its even exists.

i just got one of those scam emails. and that was after i used "namecheap" to create a new domain. i forgot to add "whois guard" which is why they got my info.

just got a second one from newlyregisterdomain.org

let that be a lesson, always use whois guard! :D

How can they scrap for the newly registered domains? Is there a Soft that makes that or are registries selling out Customer Info?
