Search Engines and IPs

    Can search engines (Google in particular) determine what IP address a profile is created on?

    If so, how?

    It seems to me that the only thing they would be able to see is the IP of the server the link is created on...but then again I don't know much.

    EDIT:

    Just put some more thouht into this...

    I understand the need of using alt. IPs, but IF the SE's can see which ip creates what links then:

    a.) anyone using public proxies is going to have a horrible footprint no matter how diverse

    b.) MOST people using private proxies are going to have a bad...maybe even worse....footprint cause most private proxies are all in the same C-Block, aka the same owner

    no ... SE can not see what ip address have created what link.
    But i do not understand 100% what do you really ask , and what the hell are you talking about that web 2.0 ...

    might depend on the social site...I know G has a direct connection into the content in twitter. Could they also be referencing the IP addresses? I don't see why NOT.
