Ok, so basically i am interested in following.
What if i create a website with some totally unique content, and some articles that are surly duplicated from word to word.
How will search engines, especially Google, react to that site ?
Is there some kind of percent, like if 50% of your site is unique then it is ok.. or something like that ?
Will the whole site get penalized or only the pages that are duplicated.
I am sorry if this is noob question, but i do not know exact answer to this question.

Since Google doesn't disclose their algorithms, and since they are always changing, there is no correct answer. That been said, plenty of sites use duplicated content and rank well.

I've built whole sites out of dup content and some of them rank #1 in Google (and easily in Yahoo) for the chosen keywords. It's all down to how intensively you promote them.

Thanks freller i was looking for that kind of info.

Why do you think google does not know which site is having original content, that usually is the one that have first got indexed by google. In most cases its like that

That's not always true. You might be interested in what the official Google blog has to say about this:

Being first indexed has nothing to do with anything, not sure why you come up with that. Think about it, some pages change 20 times a day, some pages change slightly every few days like the homepage of a blog when a new post is done.

What you are proposing would require archiving trillions of copies of page adjustments, hitting and archiving every webpage on the planet the split second content changed or a page was made then doing some massive timestamp computations which is not feasible.

There is several factors that determine which page to show, when it was indexed is not one of them. You can outrank a 10yo page if you want to.

duplicate content is not really a penalty. you won't get banned. all it is is a filter, so basically if Google identifies one of your sites as duplicate content, all they are gonna do is not index that page.

if your worried about it, just use a content spinner and spin your content or you can re-write it if you want.
