Everything was going so well yesterday, I had found a killer deal on amazon and listed it on ebay. This morning when I woke up, someone had already purchased the product, yay! But unbenounced to me, Amazon seems to have run out of stock. Next to the product listing on Amazon it says, "Usually ships in 1-3 months. Of course this is very different from what was promised to the buyer.

Is there anything else that I can do besides contact the buyer and inform him that he will have to either a) wait 1-3 months or b) let me refund him the money?

Also, I'm new here and don't really understand how dropshipping fully works. If this product was in stock, would I really have to purchase the USPS shipping label that they're prompting me to buy on ebay?

Edit: I have refunded the payment through paypal. The order seems to still be open on ebay though, should I cancel it there too? If I do, it seems like it wants to refund the money again through their system, not sure if I should let that happen.

I wouldn't even tell the buyer to wait 3 months. I would just apologize that your dog broke the item, refund, and move on.

Yeah refund or find the product elsewhere to purchase it and hope to break even.

Got it! But can you give me a real example of what to say happened to the item? Can't I just say that I ran out of stock?

I usually don't give ebay advice but since I was once a success ebay seller, I can say that the longer you hold on to the buyers money the more problems you will create for yourself, refund the money like yesterday it don't matter what you say happened just refund it because you clearly don't have the item. Just say it got damaged and it's not for sale anymore.

I suggest first looking for that product on other sites. Wallmart, Craiglist, whatever. If you can't find anything cheap enough, just apologize and refund as soon as possible. Speed is always important.

If there are other sellers on Amazon buy it from them and take the hickey on the price. eBay is all about FEEDBACK
