With all the bans associated with google, what is the point of scraping from google and not yahoo (unless advanced operators are not supported - most are..). After all, any site worth its salt should also be in Yahoo index.

I am interested in this as well. I often scrape from Yahoo instead of google. Not sure of any negatives at this point...

Google has a much larger search index and you will get more results from google for whatever you are harvesting.

True that Yahoo has a bigger search index, let's say the index is 5 times bigger. Then why can't you throw 5 times more keywords at Yahoo, and use the much larger set of anon proxies (vs. google proxies). And not worry about bans, so drive it harder.

It wont matter with the extra keywords, Yahoo/Bing will keep on serving the same limited results within there index (when using the same footprint). You will always get 10xxx more with google.

If you want to rank in Google then you focus on scraping links from Google.

If you want to focus on ranking in Yahoo then you scrape from Yahoo.

If I want to rank in Google then it does not make sense to scrape for Yahoo indexed links which may not be indexed in Google. It is just another thing to worry about.

Edit: Just re-read and noticed you want to do it to avoid proxy bans. Fair enough, I guess I don't have those issues as I must scrape fewer results or have more proxies :)
