You are welcome. I thought the blaming scrapebox for your site is like blaming the hammer for your house comment was the best explanation of tools work it is how you use them that matters.

Rabbitgirl, are you asking how I used scrapebox? If you are shoot me a pm and I will see if I can help you out with that.

It is actually really easy to use scrapebox to find way more then 500,000 blogs to comment on. I could actually give you a list that I have scraped, if it is still saved on my hd. If you have scrapebox, just use the keyword scraper and scrape a ton of keywords for random niches. After you have done that, run the harvester. You can set how many you pull per keyword per search engine.

Then just go through them. I do suggest manually commenting on anything over a pr of 3 is my rules, but follow your own.

it's possible to get sandboxed by google for getting too many backlinks all at once. it depends on many factors though. i think it's a very good experiment.

how old is the competitors domain? did it already have a lot of quality backlinks? what kind of pr did it have? i think it's sites that are brand new getting massive backlinks that get sandboxed, while it actually helps sites that already have good backlinks & pr, but i could be wrong.

i swear alot of you guys on bhw are idiots. Pay attention and understand that OP did what he did as a form of experimentation, not because he was ignorant and didnt understand what he was doing.

Im glad as hell someone actually went ahead and did this experiment because hes finally put to bed once and for all the fact that you cannot kill a competitors site with spam backlinks. All the speculation before this experiment was just that, SPECULATION.

Now the OP has come with pure proof on the matter, and some of you idiots are giving him grief. Gimme a frigging break PLEASE.

i think it's a bit premature to come to that conclusion based on one test like this. there are a lot of factors to consider.

Then I think you should put up or get out. What I mean by this is do the test yourself. Find a competitor, or just use any site, and hit it with as many backlinks as you want. See if you can get it knocked out.

I am not saying that one test covers everything, but I think that it was a pretty solid test. I will continue testing, and continue adding as much information to this forum as I can, until I get banned again or I die. Which ever comes first.

I would be very interested if someone could show me a way to get a competitors site knocked off the internet. I would even pay for the resource.

Great test man, it's great to see people testing instead of speculating. You can't definitively say what works and what doesn't if you don't test. Keep it up and thanks for reporting

I'd be up for this... doesn't matter to me what site we use... it would be an interesting experiment, and I think a useful one.

Even more interesting would be to do it with a new site... and then with a more seasoned site to see the difference in how they react and how/if they come back... but, I guess one step at a time!

If anyone wants to do this... count me in!

I've got an already developed minisite that I'd volunteer for the blast test and a copy of scrapebox so I can help out. Its a fairly new site that been up and indexed for about a month but has only one backlink. I just created a link so G could find and index it, then left it alone. I'd have to spend a couple of seconds removing my adsense code off the site before we hammer away at it. I wouldn't want it tied in to my legit sites should something go awry.

Backlinking a competitor's site to death will probably always be a non-existent method. G doesn't want that scenario, most webmaster's don't want it... G would rather work on simply discounting link juice from backlink spam.

Are there people out there who mass auto report websites to google for fraud, spam, etc? Similar to what people do to get youtube videos and CL posts down?

Same thing happen to my site, its down, all keywords are delisted and are not in top 100. As well i lost pagerank 3. Now i m waiting to see if i get back on serps.

All i did was few blog comments nothing big.

for few I am around 100

i tired quality link buidling but it didnt helped so now I am back to square one spamming backlins for my site

if i get it back well and good ... IF i dont then I move to another domain name. ....
or wld have tried it on a competitor site so after reading your experiment

I am up with scrape box again and let c what google do.

I was worried but now I dont care... both ways i learn and move on....
will use same db for a new domain... so contetn wont change but domain name wld change...

This was an excellent experiment! I'm glad I stumbled upon it and thanks for sharing!

If you're in SEO for the long run (and IMO there's nothing else when it comes to SEO) the best (or one of the best) ways to approach is create 20 or more para-sites (web2.0, free blogs, articles, etc.) that are very well written... then scrapebox, social bookmark and xrumer the hell out of them. Because they're on authority sites they won't get deindexed by Google or anything, and you don't want to rank them anyways, but they'll become high quality backlinks to your site in a few weeks, and after the next public PR update you'll see some great things
