Hi today I got on my computer a HP Pavillion DV6000 it has Windows Vista 32bit on it. I got on BHW & talked to someone via pm for a bit & then purchased scrapebox. This was around 4 hours ago. After purchasing the software I submitted my activation code.. ok cool I have to wait for my account to be activated which said would take around 12 hours.. no problem so I head over to http://www.youtube.com/user/scrapebox to learn about the software. I watched about half of the videos, at this point I went to check my scrapebox software for the update. I open it up to find my account has been activated. Scrapebox then prompts me to restart my computer to finish the activation process for the software.. I am so happy about this, so my computer goes to restart but there is a problem. I noticed my laptop did not start up.. I wait a minute then turn on my laptop manually.. The lights come on the laptop & its making its noise starting up but I see nothing on the screen. Then my computer shuts down. I try again.. the same thing.. now my computer will not start up at all.. All that it will do is turn on the Led lights & fans then it shuts down. I had to borrow a neighbors laptop to post this I am stuck without my laptop.. I don't understand what the problem could be everything was running fine until scrapebox asked me to restart my computer & now it is ********ed! If scrapebox is not the problem I am sorry for leaving this negative feedback about the product. But can someone please help me I dont know what to do I am so mad!!!! Please someone help me I don't know where to start the laptop will not even load!

ScrapeBox doesn't ask you to restart your computer at all, also it's a portable app which doesn't need installing and does not modify anything outside it's own folder. It runs in userland Ring3 and not as admin, it cannot "destroy" your computer.

Sounds like your computer is a lemon, i would take it back to the shop because it sounds more like a hardware problem.

I had the same problem I should of turned on the malware blocker in the addons section in scrapebox, my computer completely froze up and I had to hard reset it because I had like 27 possible threats on my MCAFFEE, I barely even use my PC anymore I just use it for scrapebox and other BH TOOLS

Is there a possiblity that they are making scrapebox for MACS that would be great!

That´s what I call Bad Luck.

SB is self contained, it doesn´t needs installing.

Bad luck man, that´s just it.

Oh and Bad Thread as well, there´s no way SB destroyed your laptop.

The only thing it destroys is blog owners patience. Other than that it´s a peaceful and tamed beast.

affiliatenubi - did you have the problem after activating the software? Or was it an issue when you were running the software where it froze up like maybe you were harvesting to many blogs or something?

Sweetfunny - the software I downloaded asked me to restart my computer after it had been activated in order to use it. I opened it like two or three times before this but the software wasnt activated yet & everything closed normally.. but then there was a popup when I opened it after it was activated. Im not sure the exact words but It said something along the lines of Your computer has to be restarted once before you can use scrapebox software.. It even said this in the right hand corner of the software in red letters..

I purchased the software directly from the scrapebox thread.. I don't understand how the software doesn't ask for a restart in order to complete the activation process.. that is exactly what happened. Maybe it was a virus on my computer which prompted this after I opened scrapebox after it was activated?? I understand it could be a hardware issue but I figured if that was the case my computer would have shutdown while I was running it not after I was prompted to restart..

affiliate - I will look up how to hard reset my laptop, if you could provide me a link that would be great

Sweetfunny/blackrat I never said anything about it being installed I know it doesnt need installed. I just unzipped the file which was between 2-3mb it worked fine. But then after the software activated.. there was a popup in the middle of the software [prompted with a yes & no button that asked me to restart my laptop.. plus it even said this in the right hand corner of the software in red letters..

Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be other then my computer being a POS. Like what I need to do to fix it or what needs replaced (motherboard/harddrive etc?)

The reason that most Windows programs require a restart after installation is that they modify the Registry or would if the Registry could be modified when its running. It can't. So the restart runs some code before the Registry loads, effectively telling the core tiny part of the Operating System to modify the Registry before loading it.

Portable programs don't modify the registry and so no restart is needed; everything they need to run is already contained in their own directories.

And as several others have suggested, I think you probably got a lemon.

OK I just fixed my computer this is what I did.

    1. remove battery and AC adapter
    2. press power ON switch for 30 secs. to 1min then release it.
    3. leave it for a few more seconds (15 to 30secs)
    4. attach battery and AC adapter
    5. power ON as normal

    ----------------------------------
But yeah I would like to say Scrapebox is god to anyone who might have read this thread & questioned if they should buy it or not. Go buy it now!!!
    ----------------------------------

But now I don't know what to do about why I was prompted to restart my computer by "scrapebox" if it does not prompt for this. Should I delete the downloaded software & download it again? SweetFunny do you think this is what I should do. I still have the zip file I can send you Sweetfunny to show it did prompt me to restart i believe unless it prompted me to restart scrapebox. Let me know what I should do sorry for this whole thread.

I wish SB is that powerful so I can destroy any computer ~lol~

Anyway, SB never ask us to restart computer. Instead, it will be restarted itself (only restart SB) after an update.

nvm I just noticed you fixed it:D

ok I have bad news for you. What you are experiencing is a common problem with entire hp dv line. Your graphic chip died on you!!! Its not related to scrape box at all its a very common problem I did fix several of dv line laptops depending on your skill you can do it yourself. What you need to do is take apart entire laptop. Take out motherboard and reflow nvidia chip. What happen was that soldering that holds chip in place loosened up/lost connection do to heat. I will assume that you do not have a hot air soldering gun so your best bet will be go to home depot and buy a heat gun use it for the fix and return it. Now you probably have no idea what to do so i will point you in the right direction go to you tube and type in HP DV9000 blank screen fix! Video problem BGA rework
and than type in how to reflow dv6000 it will show you how to do it with a heat gun.

Or you can go to ebay type in dv6000 motherboard repair and have it fixed for $90
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
