Today I went along and used Bootcamp to install Windows XP Home Edition.

I had a cracked version of it saved on a CD-R and it worked fine for all my other computers so I thought Il use this CD to install a separate copy of Windows XP.

For everyone that has a Mac, you will know that installing Windows is a very good and vital option if you do SEO, as most SEO related tools DO NOT work on a Mac -unless you do other technical stuff.

So today I went along and loaded up Bootcamp, installed XP and all good.

Restarted the computer, XP came up and it worked fine. Restarted the computer again, pressed the option key to load up Macintosh and guess what? It wasn't there. I fucked up. At this stage my heart jumped. You don't know how fucking upset I was. I wasn't worried that the drive was deleted, but really upset that some files work related were going to be gone forever.

Went to the Apple store down the road (very convenient), and they fixed it. They told me to use a legit copy of XP.

So.. guys, how much does a legit copy of XP cost? Is anyone drop shipping it here on this forum, or know of anyone who does? Has anyone installed XP successfully on their Mac and then had luck running Scrapebox and other programs? What is the space you allocated for XP? I chose 32gb.

I would like all the suggestion you can give please. Thanks!

Unless it has to be a legit WIN XP, I have a copy of win 7 you can have. It has all the levels built in, you can choose. Meaning starter, home basic home premium, pro and ultimate. It's running on two computers at my house right now.

I'm not sure if this can be done with MAC (never used Apple). But on IBM platforms you can solve that quite easily:

---> Install windows on external HD/disk on key

Winxp is dead already so if you are paying then get win 7 to be covered with compatible software for the next few years.

The dudes at the Apple are obligated to tell you to use a legit copy of XP. Otherwise they are condoning Piracy, which any professional would not do. They could lose they're job if they did.

The problem is somewhere else. Is the XP your using a duplicate, or has it been modified in anyway?

first off I cant see how a bootleg xp will be the problem, and they have to be like 40 bucks or less by now, check staples or any computer store in your area. Additionally you should always have a external drive with all you work backed up, I got scripts and files and goto templates that took me years to save up and create and I built my knowledge around them. If i was to loose these all I can say is damn that would suck.

xp is pretty cheap these days. check ebay. or just find a trusted xp distro, search on tpb and just have a look through the comments.
I'm running the same setup as you pretty much, prefer xp over win 7 too they've had 10+ years to sort out all the bugs and so it runs really well, requires less ram etc.
You should look into parallels and VMware fusion too, you can boot a virtual environment of your boot camp partition in OS X which can be pretty useful

Sounds like your trusty XP disk was trying to do you a favor and those assholes at the Apple store kicked you in the dick.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457078.aspx

BTW, XP is not dead at all. There is a reason that many Vista users reverted back to XP and why many XP users are reluctant about upgrading to Windows 7.

Because XP is a versatile, stable operating system with years of updates to back it up. If I were to suggest the latest, greatest OS, it would be Win7. However, if I were to suggest the most stable Win OS, it would definitely still be XP.

Just because I do not have over 10 years of trust built by Win7.
