so, i went to a site, which was claiming iphone 4s for cheap price. It was 30% discount, i went ahead and bought one. Now, the guy totally scammed me and he just ran awya with my money. I looked on whois and i got his address, phone number. Obviously the phone number doesnt work. Me and my friend lost close to $1300. Is there any way to get my money back? If i cant get my money back, i am thinking if i can hire some lawyer online and give some legal notice to web hosting company.

    this is the url http://www.elec-brand.com/
I know, there are slim chances of me getting my money back. But i want to fight and atleast try to stop this scammer from scamming more people. what should i do?

option 2 - i want to give this seller atleast some nightmares for couple of weeks. I sent money through moneygram

    Thanks

    Sorry for your loss.

You getting back money would depend on how you paid them. Care to let us know how you paid them and then you can get suggestions based on that.

Are you gonna sue the shop in china ? That is funny
In what country are you located?
And you think that knowing a name will get your money back, China got rich from selling copied stuff

I feel for you re your loss but in my opinion your loss should be a one off $1300 payment

I say this as an expat who has worked in China and many countries in Asia for over 15 years these guys are usually very smart often too slick and slippery to get sued by some lawyer - WHO WILL FOR SURE CHARGE YOU MEGA BUCKS with no positive result - hence another bucket load of money down the drain!

For sure try to nail these guys but avoid paying lawyers as that will be EXPENSIVE AND FRUITLESS!

The only law in China is OUTLAWS - as in Cowboys - Scammers - Copiers they are above the law - they are the law of counterfeit gear!

soory but how you can pay upfront ?
have you seen this copys they are crap.

what i do when ordering i tell which is the truth i have a friend in shanghai and he has to deliver the items there and gets the money.
there are plenty where you never hears something again. but just sending money over for some copy crap which mostly has more than poor quality will in 99% never work

The Reverse Who is Lookup for the person listed in the Who is for the website you posted shows this:

    [h=1]"XIAOQUAN ZHANG" - Reverse Whois Lookup[/h]
Below is the report for the domain owner "XIAOQUAN ZHANG".
Our records show 18 currently registered domains and 20 previously registered domains with that search string in the WHOIS record. The oldest record in our archive for which your search string appears is for the domain MIKEZHANG.COM and was captured on 02/26/2006. There are 9 unique nameservers used on the current domain list and 3 additional unique nameservers used on the historical list.

I went to that site, and it shows a guy who is an assistant professor at a Hong Kong Business School. I am not sure if that means anything, but, just wanted to post it here.
