Well this is disappointing to see.

I left a fresh run going last night and wake up this morn to see that shitty shitty splat box 'error sending message' on my new 1 gig'er vps.

So apparently it isn't to do with ram (or I still don't have enough?). What causes this crappy error if it isn't the ram? cos I seem to get it consistently if running lists above 300k.

you have xsserver don't you? i do as well, is this from harvesting or link checking? i think your settings might be too aggressive

    2008. I usually run on 100-120 connections.

Might give support a shout and see what they have to say.

I'm talking about blasting on fastposter.

yea you prolly have to fix something, i've found that for xsserver 1gig
300connections is almost the sweet spot, sometimes i can crank it up to 400, but % drops.
to recheck, i usually just run the failed through and if only a small percentage get's posted then that's the sweetspot for me, currently it's 300.

i'd check you're settings dude, does it just like out of memory crash or what? is it that error that says "bha blah enter in email"?

I've used SB on a 100mbit connection 24x7 without a single crash. May be there's some problem with your OS? How about reinstalling it?

Hmm i get crashes loads the usual culprit is 'error sending message'. Then you see a massive chunk of uploaidng then it says 'message could not be sent' and shuts down.

I did get the straight 'out of memory' crash but that's a different one.

I have been busy with xrumer so haven't really gotten around to getting to the bottom of this but will do soon.

I'll ask the good ol support.

I did have random crashes with huge lists too (on a monster dedi + gigabit), so I just split the lists... Annoying, but it works.

Poo poo. I was enjoying the idea of being able to make mammoth sub 1mil lists and just setting and forgetting.

Looks like xrumer will become my weapon of choice for that then as it seems more suited for these marathon runs.

Then again my server did crash again overnight while running xrumer lol so better not speak too soon. I'm still learning the settings for it tho.

I just realized today it is likely because I've been running xrumer as well non stop which is taking up 100% cpu :D

one instance of xrumer takes up 100%? (i haven't use xrumer so i wouldn't know) fyi i've stupidly maxxed out SB on just a 1gig (too many connections, too much ram/cpu usage) and it doesn't crash, just lags and takes FOREVER, to shut down, but no crash.

Well I shelled for another vps today (or should i say my biz partner did lol :D). Another 1gig xsserver special.

So one for 'rumer and one for SB now. Hoping that'll improve things.

I spoke to xsserver support about it today and they recommended 2 gigs to work comfortably but I managed on 512, even 256, lol, so reckon 1gig will still be a nice improvement.

I'm running SB on an el cheapo $5 VPS and except for the occasional spikes of cpu use (probably by other users) - it performs ok with only 512MB ram, but I had to cut the number of threads to 60 for trackbacks for decent results. You should get better performance on 1GB me think...

Got good news today - finally they will bring fiber-optic here in September, so I may be able to run my own server!
