    Hey guys,

I am about to build a crazy amount of web 2.0 tiers and am curious if in regards to footrprints and seo does it hurt you to have the same url names across different sites.

    For example:

    tier 1 blogs
    chicagodonuts.weebly.com
    chicagodonuts.squidoo.com

tier 2 sites pointing to tier 1.
    chicagodonuts.wordpress.com
    chicagodonuts.tumblr.com

    Please advise and thank you...

    Have a great day!!!

very bad. You wanna be as unique and stay as anonymous as possible and not give away any clues to your competitors or google that you are trying to game the system.

^ This. Always reduce your footprint where possible. I personally make sure I have a different UN for every Web 2.0! Can be tedious to keep track of it but it's worth the extra effort. If anything were to go wrong you could jeporadise your whole Web 2.0 structure!

Thanks for the replies. So would you even stay on topic? or would have a tier 2 about the city of chicago and tier 1 about chicago donuts?

    or like

tier 2 about nascar and tier 1 about chicago donuts...?

    Thank you for clarification.

I keep my tier structure within the same niche. Although I wouldn't name them all the same way i.e. the same keyword in the domain. I use Web 2.0's in this way for backlinks and therefore the actual domain isn't as important unless you're trying to rank it as well. I'd have a domain name related to the niche/topic but not all with the same name. I'd make sure the contextual backlinks were all for that keyword though... does that make sense? :)

You'll just be creating additional competition for your EMD (assuming you're using one) if you do that. Best to stick to names that are somewhat related to your niche, but a little different each time. You don't have to go overboard.

The one site you definitely want to keep different is Blogger. Google owns it and automatically begins to monitor your blogs as soon as you create one (you'll notice that your blogs are automatically added to Webmaster Tools without your consent). Personally, I avoid that site completely, even if it is one of the best from an SEO/PR perspective. Too close to the Eye of Sauron for my liking.

Emmm , Actually... There are some ppl ( really good one ) who work the Opposite. They work on the same account and never change it and write good articles. With time u start to gain trust in the high authority sites , u start to gain trust in google eyes and u may even get high page ranks for ur domains. Should it be the Same Name, I really don't know as w/e ppl say I think google care about Quality and if ur link comes from Quality Pages even if it was created by u , they dont really care.

all sites are going to filled with original photos and content. I so understand the content is king philosophy. I'm not going to spend the time to fill it with junk just to have google kick me later...

so chicagoillinoisdonuts.weebly.com can point to chicagodonuts.tumblr.com.... different names but same niche if you will...
