Hi guys ... So since this is my first real post here, please be gentle if I'm breaking any rules :D

So I have a genuine US based PayPal account which I used for 1-2 years when I was in the US .. Its a personal account made for my own use really ..

The problem is I'm now in Asia, and I want to access my PayPal account from here .. PayPal doesn't allow this, and people report that using a PayPal account from outside its originating country limits the account .. I really want to avoid this because I'd probably have to go to the US to get it back to normal :p

So whats the *safest* way to access a US based PayPal account from outside US ? Proxies are obviously the worst, and I think VPNs are also not recommended as PayPal keeps monitoring them ... So whats the solution ?

Currently what I do this I ask a friend of mine to give me access to his computer via Teamviewer, and then I access my PayPal account using his computer ... Although this is probably the most safest way, its also very time consuming, as I've to organize a meeting with him, take his time, etc ...

Well, the added problem I have is that PayPal isn't actually available in my current country, so that would raise more flags in their system when I access my PayPal .. I've had people here have this problem (their accounts get limited), so I don't want to be a victim there too, as I only have one PayPal account :)

As far as I know PayPal easily hunts down proxy users ...

What about VPN and VPS ? Anybody use those ?

cheap windows VPS near the city you actually opened the account with.

    $15-$20 a month I suppose

If the Paypal account is not worth that much to you - then just forget it and open a Neteller account in the country your in now.

Private proxy means that only YOU are using it and why shouldthey ban IP that is not spamming emails, doing fraud or anything?

VPN on the other hand rotates proxys, so you WILL get low quality ones

Can't you just call them and tell them you're out of the country? Same thing you do with a credit card.

Problem is I buy stuff online, and most places only accept PayPal .. :/

Isn't a VPN more secure than VPS ? Looking for some opinions here ?

But the whois information on a proxy can just be blacklisted by PayPal. Also, internet browsing has these 'flags' which can be used to detect if the person is browsing via a proxy or not. Those can be used to easily detect if a proxy is in use.

Believe it or not but I actually tried that, twice ! The first I called and asked this, they politely told me that if I accessed my account from outside the US, it will get limited. So I didn't try. I exited the US for vacations, and never used my PayPal account when I was out of the US.

A year or so later, I called them again and asked the same thing. The lady told me that "I've already been told that doing so will get my account limited" ! I mean, you'd think they'll loose track about what a person asked a year ago, but not PayPal ... :p ... This tells how much they take security seriously ...

    ---

Has anyone here used a Private Proxy, VPN or VPS to access their US PayPal account from outside US ?

Secondly, which is more safer, VPN or VPS ?

Teamviewer is a good one. The most safest way actually.

Yes but I actually hate that method ... I have to first email him and ask him for a time when he can share his computer .. He emails me back .. We decide on a time, and then I go on his computer at that time to do all my pending PayPal related stuff ..

I can't freely use PayPal this way, which I want to :/

A VPN where you get a dedicated IP will do the trick. I used a couple of Polish PayPal accounts using this :)

Can you tell me which VPN you used ?

And can't PayPal detect VPNs ? I mean don't they blacklist the VPN providers ?

Also can someone guide me on whats more safer between these 3 ? : VPN / VPS / Private Proxy (as tomsko suggested) ..

Comments like these really make me want to take the plunge ...... but the risk is too high :D

I'd use Vps. It's like having a desktop in US.

Any specific kind of a VPS that I may need ?

    Won't a VPS's domain be blacklisted by PayPal ?

If you are only buying stuff it should not be to big of an issue. But you said the Country you are in is not on their list of Countries "to do biz" with. That is always a problem.

Of course the funding source needs to be taken in consideration. Where are the funds coming from you use to buy stuff ?

Best shot is a VPS with a static ip in the same city you used to live / the account was created in.

Where do you live now ?

I'm currently in Pakistan, and sadly PayPal hasn't come here yet. I think even the neighboring countries only have limited PayPal facilities as well.

Yes I mostly just use PayPal to buy stuff on ebay, or other online retailers, or subscribe for online services (not porn :p) etc .. Sadly PayPal is so widespread, there's no suitable replacement for it ..

My account was made in Atlanta, GA, so I assume I would need an Atlanta based VPS ?

Anything specific I need in the VPS apart from the dedicated IP requirement ?

It is best not to use vpn's because they can be blacklisted. Instead use a dedicated private proxy or vps with remote
desktop access. This will work fine. Just do not use Tor, HMA (Hidemyass) or public proxies.

    Cheers,
