I was recently wondering, is it safe to create a journal sort of website and then blog about blackhat IM?

Maybe not exactly blackhat, but lets say I make a post about uploading fake YT videos and then sending fake views to them. Could I get sued for that?

I don't think you'll get sued for that.
I did something along those lines back in early 2012 and the blog was getting decent traffic... but no one was bothered with that.

People even sell WSOs that teach you how to 'trick' the system (be it YT, Google or FB) and most of that stuff is against the TOS of that particular site but seems like no one even cares.

So I think you'll be okay... unless you put a dark black hat on your head and start talking about ILLEGAL stuff like b*tn*ets etc.

I want to create a personal journal type thing and want to keep it legit to myself. I've realized that I've been wasting a lot of time and a journal is something that could really push me forward. I could always have a private one but a public one is open to discussion which not only helps but could potentially build a solid online asset. :)

I do something like that already but I have blocked all search engines and bots via robots.txt and all IPs except mine via htaccess so that is not public by any means.

But I don't think you'll get in trouble for talking about YT bots and such on your blog. Selling the bots and promoting it all over the internet is a different thing, though. (Remember TweetAttacks?)

Yeah I remember. I was thinking of keeping it just to myself as well but then again there's the option of having it indexed in the search engines.

After a while it will become a bunch of un-indexed information...

What are your future plans for your thing? At first I was thinking of setting up a forum for myself but that would get boring with no user interaction, then again I don't want to start a forum.

    lol

Well that blog is like a personal diary and I don't wanna share what I write there with anyone. I started that as part of my new year resolution and it has helped me get more organized and increase my productivity a bit. I have no intentions of sharing the content on that blog with anyone. :p

Hah, okay. I may go down that way too. :D

Other then what you've already mentioned, I will probably password protect the directory I will be using as an extra security precaution.

    So excited! :D

It is safe as long as you dont want adsense/any other reputable ad company to put ads to your site.

Google will not sandbox you or anything like that, but you are not allowed to put up their ads.

You can still make $ form clickbank, and stuff like that.

This is something I do as well, for the reasons others have stated above. Without the personal journal, I wasn't very efficient or effective with my work. I also keep track of hours spent on different categories of work, so that I can have percentages of where I'm spending my time. I haven't bothered to protect any of it, but I also haven't bothered with any SEO. If people come, they come.

I do have some ads for tools that I use, and as such I have made a little bit of money for referrals on webhosting.

I'm actually pretty specific with the procedures on that site and it's in the back of my mind that I could flesh some of them out and sell them as WSO's or reports on my site.
