To start off, this is for people with a little bit of money (from $50 - $XXXX) to spare. If you're looking for instant money, this is not for you. But if you're looking for a decently safe place to invest your money that pays more than the crappy 3% return rate that CDs offer right now, then this is DEFINITELY for you.

I joined Pr0sper.com awhile ago and have been very pleased with it. For those who don't know, Pr0sper is a peer to peer lending site; people who need loans post on the site, and people who want to make some interest fund those loans.

I'm a loaner and I make on average 15% on the money I loan out. I screen my borrowers carefully to make sure there is a high probability of them paying me back, and so far I've not had any default on me. *knocks on wood*

The best part is, if someone refers you to be a loaner, both of us (the referrer and the referee) get $25 deposited in our accounts by Pr0sper. So if you're interested, send me a PM and I'll send you a referral.

Also, if you need a loan and I refer you, I get $50, but I'll happily send $25 back to you, so if you're looking to borrow, I can help you out as well.

Details of the referral program are at hxxp://www.pr0sp3r.c0m/help/topics/account-referrals.aspx
If there are any questions, please feel free to ask me or check out their website at hxxp://www.pr0sper.c0m.

Sorry for the hassle, but I have to send an email to you instead of being able to send a link. Pr0sper does this to prevent excessive posting of affiliate links everything. As a result, please PM me with your email address if you're interested. Thanks.

Not to put the OP down or his method, but if you have larger amounts of money doing nothing and want something long term, mutual funds are the best thing you can do. However , you need more than $50 to get into them.

Yeah, Pr0sp3r is for people with a little less to invest, but it's very competitive with stocks.

Actually, some mutual funds have ridiculous management fees as a result of hot-shot finance personnel choosing the stocks for you; however, their choices are statistically as good as market movement, which in plain English means they don't know how to pick stocks any better than you. As a result, index funds are a better choice than managed mutual funds since you don't have to pay the fees and the return is basically the stock market return which on average is 10%.

The reason I say mutual funds are better is because they're more hands off with about the same rate of return as you listed for pr0sper. You can easily average 12% over a ten year period, more if you're savvy.
My dad made somewhere between 15-17% overall last year (I forgot the exact amount), but you will have losing years. But the stock market as never lost money over a 10 year period since the Great Depression.
