Ah yes another case where people think they should all be rich for making fat and delicious cakes.
Take your picket signs and build a fire under your bridge now.

They're selling the brand. I don't think this is the end of twinkies. It is just the end of the union members that used to make them.

They do want to sell the brand and there is one company that's been looking at them for about a year already. That's why I'm doing 24 hour auctions for the shopping cart full of Hostess products I bought at Wally World tonight! Gotta beat that press release!

Why don't people just leave well enough alone? If I own a company it will be run the way I want it to be run...If you don't agree - don't strike just go start your own company jeez...

This particular situation is a lot more complicated then just "Hostess employees got greedy and ruined the company".

But in general it's a pretty simple concept. You have the right to run your business any way you want, just like your employees have the right to organize and strike if they think they are being treated unfairly. If your business is so fragile that it folds before you can come to an agreement or hire scabs... well then you don't deserve your position in the marketplace do you? You took a risk, you lost, and you will be replaced by a superior competitor.

You know who's gonna suffer the most because of this? The residents of Colorado and Washington. Legalization of pot, then losing Hostess. It's like a bitter sweet situation.

I agree... Yea, unions get greedy and shiftless sometimes, but there would be no need for unions at all if employers would treat their employees decently to begin with. Anyone who has ever worked a few factory jobs can tell you that employers really screw over their workers sometimes, then resort to some nasty (and often illegal) tactics to prevent unionization.

I work at a factory, and god, we need a union so bad. We've been doing excessive and mandatory overtime all year. Nearly every area is short-handed, and instead of hiring more people, they just work their existing employees to death. Also, we haven't gotten a raise since 2008 (we're supposed to get +0.20 a year for cost of living)

Management says that they keep an "open-door policy," but if we ever say anything critical of the company's policies, even in the most constructive possible way, the line we get is "if you don't like it here, there are other jobs out there." So, in other words, their door is always open, but they will give you the middle finger and tell you to get out (but don't close the door when you leave, because we have an open-door policy :))

Shit, no wonder I'm trying to make a new living in IM...

PS: Twinkies are a bunch of artificial crap, you shouldn't be putting that in your body anyway! Eat an apple or granola bar or something. ;)
