5 years ago, the answer would be sales page on the homepage, but there is a trend moving toward instead showing your SAAS functionality with a trial on the homepage?

I don't think I'll go freemium. A trial at the most.

Any thoughts? Feel free to post links/examples of what you like.

HomePage as sales page can flew many clients
Better to give it a trial.

If the product is worthy in client eyes they will surely go for premium one.
    My thoughts

It depends on the case. If you're targeting your sales page directly with SEM Strategies such as seo or google adwords, I'd suggest you to target direct sales. They worked way better for me. If on the other hand you want to bring people from social media sites or through affiliates, then I'd let them register with a trial (but they should subscribe with paypal) and after 7 days for example I'd charge them.

I would only consider buying a SAAS if I can try it completely first. If I can only use parts of the software I feel discouraged. If your niche is saturated, I am even less likely to buy your software and you're 100% guaranteed I won't buy it without a trial.

Take a look at - I am not in any way affiliated with this - WordTracker

I suggest you to go with a trial of product as your home page and let costumers know more about your produt

What i think the SaaS model allow you to earn more and make more sales

    There as Start Up Company
allow Different Model of SaaS they also Support ( Software Desktop - Web app - Mobile App )

Pay per user - Billing by user number
Pay as you use/go - Billing by time of use
Pay as Subscription - Bailing pay Subscription monthly / Days / Week

    Payment gateway SaaS model
You can accept - PayPal - Bitcoin - credit card - Bank transfer - Offline Payment

In my experience of SaaS model if you know what model to use for your - Software or Web you can make more sales

This is such a tough topic.

I have an SaaS and have changed from:

    1. No Trial
    2. Free Trial
    3. Free Trial w/ payment info
    4. Freemium

And so far number 4 is killing it.
Number 3 was really killing our payment processor with fraud
Number 2 was just too much fake accounts and abuse
Number 1 was a hard sell since we we're so new

PM me if you want to see the site.

Would love to talk to serious SaaS owners / partners via skype!
