    Hi there,

I am wondering what is the best way to get links using article marketing. My concern is the duplicated content issue. Google is not penalizing duplicated content, but give less pagerank to a page with duplicated content so the link loss value.

On google webmasters blog, they said if we want to syndicate our content we should place a link back to the original article page.

Matt Cuts, the google engineer said
So my conclusion is: If we want to send an article to 100 article directories, we should put first the article on a site X. Site X could be a page on our site or a WEB 2.0 property. Then we should submit the article to article directories and put a link back to our site X . In this way the original content will be on site X, and site X will have more page rank.

Also, if someone decide to republish the article, all links placed in the article will have strength because we are saying to Googlebot that article is syndicated and the original content is on site X. So in this way we are avoiding the Dup content issue, and all placed links on the article will be valid. Moreover, we can place links on site x to our money sites.

That was my conclusion. Makes sense. However, I would like to read your opinions.

Damn!, this forum should have a captcha or something to avoid accidental submission. I could not finish to write the title properly.

If you have an article, it's better if it's published hundreds of times as opposed to just once.

Putting it on other article directories or having it syndicated as people put it on their sites is a good thing.

I have not only got 1000s of visits from syndicated content on hundreds of sites but have also got a wide variety of backlinks.

Many sites that I have are ranked in the top 5 with just article marketing backlinks from a variety of sources.

What I do is write on popular topics which helps them get syndicated on higher pagerank blogs or sites.

For example when the iPad was announced, I wrote a series of articles on the iPad. Then in the resource box I linked to other topics nothing to do with the iPad. I got tons of links from those about 10 articles not only from the directories but from syndication.

Google can talk all they want about duplicate content and whatnot, but it always makes sense that something that spreads across the internet because of interest is going to make the site that it's linking to more popular.

Just write tons of articles, submit them, then get your results. If you know that you can rank for words with these types of backlinks, just write.

Those are good tips, but that is not my point.

The idea seems to make sense. But I would venture that if your article (with link back to your original page) was syndicated as 100% dupe many times, most of the articles would end up in the supplemental index. Should this occur, the value of the links contained in the pages marked as "duplicate" would probably be significantly diminished.

It sounds like Matt Cutts is advocating a great method for boosting links but in reality, he just wants to make sure that no mistakes are made, and that Google always ranks the original content source higher, as opposed to some ripped-off syndication. One way to to make ranking mistakes less likely is to link to the original.

I'll put it this way - I'm always hungry for a link boost and I'm probably not going to try this method. Still, it might offer you some benefits. Give it a try.

I will give a try, either way I will submit the same article to article directories, and they will be duplicated content among directories. Better to link to an original source to make things look natural.

heres what I do. I get my page with the new article index then I just submit it to all article directories. All of the content I submit is just copy paste from my original site.

I assume that site you are talking about is not your money site. Right? And you add the link to the article source, Right?

Ultimategamechain is right.. stick the article on one of your sites then submit to 100's of article directories. Don't worry about Google's duplicate TOC's - it's pretty bunk.. they just put it out there as a way to encourage original content but the fact is, that's what article marketing is all about.. having your article posted to many different sites. But it is a recommendation to have it on your site so that you can show its your content.. some of the article directories may require this as well..

You could also spin these articles before submitting. This weekend I spent half an hour writing an article (wrote it in 'ready to spin' format). Submitted it to around 125 directories. Whole process took an hour and a half using Article Submission Helper (free software which automates part of the process, very easy to use and quick once you've made an account for each article directory)
