So even if I'd be able to surpass the many brand urls that show on google, would I get a decent ctr with all those links right next to me?
I'd like to know you're opinions on this, cheers.

If the search is for the brand, your CTR should be bad unless you give a huge incentive via the title and meat description. Plus for branded searches Google seems to favor the legit website as well as their satellite pages such as G+ profile, FB, Twitter etc.

The brand I hit was a pretty big one ran a 2 week trial so I bought brandnamefreetrial.com and managed to land right underneath all their own listings.

They had like 4 entries and then me plugging their free trial, so say 5th place but only under 4 of brandname.com, brandname.com/about_us.html etc etc.

Traffic was very mediocre, i'm guessing that people will hit the genuine brand first in most cases.

Every now and then i'd get a spike in traffic that sky-rocketed my conversions for 2 or 3 days though, sometimes changing 1 conversion every 7 days into 18 - 20 plus per day. Good money, but not consistent.

If you could get above the brand name then who knows, would probably be very good...
