I've seen a couple of threads that have the instructions to reply to the thread to get the product or service.

Example: Comment "XYZ" to get a free PDF guide.

In my opinion, this can promote low-quality content in the forum. All the replies will be the same comment and it certainly makes the thread low-quality with no engaging discussion.

Solution: Post the content directly, give direct download links, or create a landing page for the same.

This should be straight banned

Banning might be too harsh and discourage people from sharing HQ content since there are genuine users in Marketplace and Freebie section offering quality products or services.

Let me give you my perspective as a seller: If you don't do something like that, your thread will become a ghost. Nobody cares. I did some testing and your visibility is GREATLY impacted by the number of replies you get.

This can be fixed by introducing thread bump function. Click a button to bump the thread but limited to 1 bump every 4/6 hours.

My point is, getting repetitive replies just for the sake of visibility is not good for overall quality of this forum.

Other section threads get lost in the shadow of such marketplace threads.

They should pay for promotion, like legit users are doing, but seems nobody cares about it ;)
We were complaing many times, but instead "free", guys introduced $1 products xD

Bump is every 72h, reply every 24h

To clarify any confusion about Marketplace thread bumping rules, this thread covers that: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/m...hen-can-you-post-in-your-sales-thread.951776/

As to the topic, we allow sellers to be able to market their threads and get more attention. One way is to get members to bump your sales thread by asking for a free product. We try to enforce the rules in the Marketplace, but it isn't particularly fair to restrict a seller's ability to market their thread.

At the same time, if you do not trust a marketplace thread because they only have bump posts from members asking for samples or whatever else is offered and you can't see their actual reviews because of this, you do not have to buy from them. Sellers that use this tactic might bring in more attention, but it also leads to them giving out free samples a lot and possibly missing out on genuine customers.
