This is most likely a widely known method but it has continued to work for my launch after launch.

When I see people posting about which new system they are going to get it makes me even more excited for these systems to come out. This is potentially the easiest possible way to make money and while the upside is somewhat limited, it's cold hard and easy cash.

    1. Go to your local Gamestop.

    2. Reserve a PS4.

    3. Wait till November.

    4. One week before launch date start checking classified ads sites and ebay to see how much the PS4 is selling for. Figure out which one its selling for more on and either post an ad on classified ad sites or list your system on ebay. I would try and sell as close to launch date as possible.

    5. Collect your 200% ROI.

    6. If you notice that you aren't getting what you want for your system hang on to it for a bit. With Christmas season fast approaching around that time (and a likely system shortage, as their nearly always is) there are going to be some greedy kids somewhere begging their parents for the best present they can think of. Waiting for Christmas is a risk because if they produce more systems than they are originally predicted to, they might not be as rare as people initially think.

    7. How's this risk-free? Simple, if you don't sell your system for more than face value, bring it back to the Gamestop that you purchased it from and get a full refund. They don't charge a restocking fee.

Gamestop will only allow you to preorder 1 system per person. It used to be 2 systems per person per store and then they caught on to what resellers like myself were doing. So while getting 10+ systems by myself is no longer possible, there are loopholes. If you front the cash for family members or friends to reserve the system under their name, and possibly give them a small cut of the profit for their time, you can still get multiple units.

How much can you truly make doing this?

When the PS3 came out, I had 10+ consoles. I sold several on Craigslist for $1800 a piece and a few on ebay. My highest ebay sale was for $2400.

    I paid $599 for them.

What else can you make $1000+ for a few hours of work?

This sounds like a great idea.

Sean make sure its with different companies and or with different names.

I had 15 of one of the last systems preordered with Gamestop and they cancelled 13 of my preorders without me knowing.

I can't speak on a certainty but I would venture to say that there are stores taking preorders for these in your country.

New user here. Your idea sounds great.

    So far, I've bought 7 PS4's and 1 Xbone.

I predict the shortage to be much greater with PS4's as I'm having trouble finding anymore stores that allow preorders (I live in Canada). I may preorder a few more Xbones as I can just return them if they don't make any profit.

joshweaver9 did you preorder by actually going to a physical store, paying them a deposit and going to the midnight launch thing, or did you just go online and let them ship to you on the day?

I'm interested as they say that online shipping orders will come in before the physical stores open, but then again, I'm a bit skeptical of long delays before I get my console.

You exposed it!!! Jk... Me and a friend have already lined this up. Just waiting on the release now lol. For those considering... ebay is the simplest and easiest way.

I cancelled all my orders. I'm having real doubts whether there will be any kind of shortage. These units aren't exactly selling out.

This does work...when the Nintendo Wii first came out I was buying from amazon.de and amazon.fr, getting them shipped to the UK and selling on ebay for 50-100% profit as there was no UK stock around Christmas time.

Made around £2K ($3K) profit on 25 consoles.

    Good times :)

Hmm.. isn't there lines for pre orders? Meaning even though you have the receipt it doesn't mean for the first shipment? I already have 9 other people who plan to camp at gamestop for a week to get ours to resell them. Though recently found out the xbox1 will be delivered on launch day to my house.

No. If you have a preorder you are guaranteed a console on launch day. You do not have to wait.

This really is a good, safe method to make some extra money with. The hype around the new consoles will be huge, driving the prices way up.

    Nice share joshweaver9!

Good idea, but after the PS2 started selling for a ton on eBay a lot of people started to catch on. There's a lot more competition now. I was able to profit about $800 from the PS3, but there were plenty of people stuck with them who sold them for not much of a profit.

This would've worked great with the google glass. A bunch of people get to beta-test the glass for $1500...imagine how much one would sell for on ebay? Crazy money!
