Right what are the good keywords?

Right guys,

I've spent years working on SEO and have actually got good at getting sites to the top of google for what seems to be competitive keys. The main problem I have is I must be optimising for the wrong keywords. I have just got my latest site to first page for 2 keywords which in google keyword SEARCH tool say have 28,000 searches a month but I've about 25 visitors a day. I know I'm in like 7th or 8th position so would this be an accurate expectation for being that far down?

Just when I got there I was all excited until I looked at analytics and went "aw no, not again!"

I digress...how do i use the google search tool to check exact matches etc

getting on the first page is the easy bit..you have to get to the top of the first page because as you proberly know that the google heat map applys..

but remember that 25 ultra targeted visitors to you site is better than 300 vistors.

also what keywords are you targeting fir example health or digital products because the stratigy changes for every niche you go for

sorry didn't understand the google heat map comment. It's a gambling niche. Think I'm already on route for top spot cuz nabbed a good few high pr links but just wanted to see if its the keyword tool thats wrong or not. What I've been doing is checking the google search tool then using google trends to see if the data correlates and it does so far.

One thing I haven't quite got though is if say hot wax uk has 10,000 searches in the google search tool does that include uk hot wax and hot uk wax etc or is the term exact?

If you have 25 targeted visitors and your keyword has high commercial intention that's not really that bad. However you should get more if you rank 7. Like kez said getting on the first page is easy, getting to the top 3 is harder and that's what you should aim for. Were that 28k EXACT searches? That might be the problem.

Thanks for that, see the thing about the exact term is I have no idea. I type in lets say hot wax uk into the search tool and up pops hot wax uk 28,000 searches. Would that be exact? I put it into quotes and the same thing comes up, I'm appearing page one for just that term...
