Problem: If you search for "name company" in Google there is a bad review in the top 5 on a certain forum. "name company" = also a word so there is moderate competion for this.

    I want:
    - this bad post to drop to the 2nd page (by doing something) OR
    - get several of our own pages above it (by example web 2.0 properties)

How can I handle this? What will be the easiest to achieve?

its called reputation management and very expensive. I dont know how the prieces are internationally but in germany where i live you can expect 800-3000 Euro per month for a clear firstpage depending on how hard it is to manage. (if its about newspaper articles it can be quiet tough and even more expensive)

backlink the hell out of your sites to get them to the first page. Simple.

Create multiple users in that forum and spam the hell out of the thread with good reviews, that way A. google will index those as well, B. if someone actually goes into the forum and reads the bad review he will get tons of mixed up content including your engineered good reviews.

Actually I think it's a mix of both. Spam the forums -> BHW way, do it :) Also get some para-sites and other stuff of YOURS on the first page by backlinking them massively.

    There are two ways.
    1. Bribe some newbies in that forum to post good comments.
    2. Go to some cheap freelancer websites and do it. (probably the cheapest and easiest)

If a forum post can get in your way then you really have little competition on the page so any effort you make should work in a matter of days.

Great ideas so far. Looks like even article publishing might do the trick?
