Okay guys so here´s the thing:

I target US serps, being outside of it.

What I find rather difficult, yet have done in inumerous ways, is to retrieve google.com´s accurate ranking data for my keywords.

I´ve found obviously the best method to use a US based vps and do the searching. However I´ve been getting google.com.hk as default from my new vps server, which is annoying. Raised a ticket, support slipped through like soap saying this is a well known issue with google that they´re working out already. My ass, yahoo and all other geo locating websites display hong kong. So be aware of thrustvps in that matter. The service is excellent, the support not quite.

From my home pc, there´s no way. Even proxies redirect me to google.com.br. Maybe an ISP or browser regional settings prevent me.

Sometimes, hidemyass works and I can get some results. but thats not constant. sometimes it redirects me to google.es or google.com.hk.

Tried several software, found market samurai to be unreliable and currently Xgen Seo module is giving me different results from hidemyass(that being inside a "US" vps, which btw I have my doubts... but it works and the machine is stable so...)

Well, i´ve gone around and around trying to find a surefire way to retrieve darn´s google.com´s results, and though I´ve been successful at any given attempts, it was always working my way around technical difficulties.

Given that checking rankings should be a fun part, this kinda sucks.

Can you guys with similar problems shed some light into this and maybe share your methods.
    Thanks.

EDIT: I´ve tried playing with the locators in the search url (en-US) and then removing the wrong tld extension(.br/.hk) from the search url... sometimes it works sometimes it doesn´t.

I also am having problems with this. I'd like to ask if using those rank checkers actually work. If you google rank checker and click the 2nd link (ends with n3t) and then submit your keyword and site, it gives me back a number for example 16.

Is that an accurate representation of your rank?

Page is rankchecker (.) n3t btw.

Get a $1-5 a month virtual hosting account from a provider whose data centre is absolutely confirmed to be in the US. Email them first to make sure. Then install a very simple web proxy like cgiproxy or something similar.

However be aware that results will vary somewhat even across the continental US - there's really no single index.

This is piss easy, you just need to add certain parametrs to your query.
Here's few examples (PS! you can make those as firefox bookmarks and type say guk "how to met a bigger penis" to addressbar and get uk results.
    UK results:http://www.google.com/search?q="how to get a bigger penis"&gl=uk&num=100&hl=en&safe=off
    US results:http://www.google.com/search?q="how to get a bigger penis"&gl=us&num=100&hl=en&safe=off
    AU results:http://www.google.com/search?q="how to get a bigger penis"&gl=au&num=100&hl=en&safe=off

As you can see there are 2 parameters you should add:gl=au and hl=en

One way to stop Google country redirect is to visit this link. http://www.google.com/ncr This sets a cookie in your browser announcing Google not to redirect. Now you are getting results from google.com.

This website gives me the most accurate US results (I compared it several times with people from the US). Please note that it is not perfect and it is not mine.
    Code:
    http://www.web-backlinks.com/google-serps-position-checker.asp

This is the method that I use. Just add &gl=us for US data center results at the end of your query
