Retaining PR on a dropped domain?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about investing in dropped domains with a High PR, probably PR3-PR6.

I was wondering what special circumstances I need to take into account when building out the site. I know there is no fail-safe method, but assuming the links are legit for the most part, what are some good steps to building out an aged domain like that and retaining the PR through the next update?

Well I can help you as I bought a domain name registered 8 years ago .. and i got pr2 straight away now working to make it pr3 .. let see .. maybe i can help ..

Unless you get a real good deal on the PR6 I would probably let that one slide as it is a fair risk that you will lose at least some PR and the drop from 6 to 5 is pretty expensive.

Before buying look at the existing backlinks to see if they come close to supporting the assigned PR. If they do not then there is a much greater chance of a drop.

Look at the links to see what ones will probably stick even if you change the site. I look for links on pages that have not been updated for years, usually large organizations that have pages that no one has even looked at in forever.

What you want to do get some content on the sites that somewhat matches what was on before it was dropped and matches the backlinks the the sites already have if you can. Then just get as many high PR links as you can and hope for the best.
