For a long time if somebody contacted my asking for a prices reduction on eBay I’d say "sure". Then I’d give them my price and tell them to send funds to my PayPal address which I attached as a picture. I have done this for over a year and eBay never did anything until about two weeks ago when I sold an item and copied in the item number of the PayPal invoice (to reassure my buyer). That night I got a message from eBay saying that I did an out of eBay deal and not to do it again.

Long story cut short I did it again and now my account is restricted for 7 days and I can’t list anything new. It’s not the end of the world but I’m not sure how I’ll occupy myself.

Basically I think it was copying the item number in the PayPal address both times that triggered this and does anyone know how to get the restriction lifted sooner?

Be thankful they did not permanently suspend your account. Ebay views this as trying to avoid paying their fees, and have been known to permanently suspend people doing this. It is probably copying the item number that got you caught this time, but if they catch you again, the suspension will be longer or permanent.

Be careful eBay had been cracking down on this. I too have gotten away with direct to PayPal transactions for years until recently eBay sent emails warning me not to do it anymore. Unlike op I stopped.

You are beyond lucky, eBay has the shittiest customer service ever, they usually ban first and ask questions later. Also I don't really understand the reason for this thread, you already know what got you in trouble, so basically don't do it again.
