I've been thinking about starting up a side business reselling IM / SEO services. I know that plenty of people do it, especially from BHW. I mean let's face it, BHW is the best IM forum on the web. All the movers and shakers are here. I figured this would be the best place to get some ideas and advice.

While BHW is probably one of the biggest market places around until I get something unique (like a service) that I personally provide I WILL NOT be selling ANYTHING on BHW. This is my home and I won't mess it up with a bunch of crappy services. If I can provide something of quality then that's a different story.

I guess the first thing to decide is what am I selling. My method for doing this is just going through the BST section of the forum to see what people are actually buying then trying to find something similiar on Fiverr. Bundling a few things together and selling it as a package. I also plan on getting some ebooks and re-writing them with my own information. For example my Youtube thread had some good info and got some decent rep+ from members here. Maybe later actually buying the IM tools like scrapebox etc. and doing the services myself.

What are some sources that sell these types of services other than fiverr?

I want to start with simple low dollar orders and get the processes down so I can provide a smooth transaction for people. Which is my next thought..

Where are the people to market to?

I would assume the Pareto principle applies here. I found a list of 120 IM forums, but it looks like 80% of the people really only go to 20% of them. Is it worth it to go be apart of forums with less than 1K people?

The other source of traffic I can think of is blogs. I'm sure there's a million IM blogs out there. Other than posting in forums, and commenting on blogs what other traffic sources work for this type of business model?

Another Idea I had was to just find customers for the services sold here on BHW. Then just mark up the price. It would drive business to the services here and I could make a connection with the provider to keep pushing his services. Any of the customer service portion of the sell I could handle making it easier for the service provider.

Ofcourse I would make a website to display these services , products, and maybe a blog. Create an email opt-in list with aweber or something similar to constantly market new services etc. Create a Facebook, twitter,g+ page for the business to gain exposure.

Really looking to start an actual business. I think if I start with smaller orders and scale up this is totally possible. Any constructive ideas or advice is welcomed!!!

I just started reselling fiverr gigs and services off here for a month now. If you short on money then start off with a blogger blog. Find some low comp keywords and try to rank for them like I did. I'm getting order like everyday now. Start off going to different site and see if someone are looking for that type of service. You could get a few customers like that. Good luck!

My advice would be to ensure you set the proper foundation for your company, so as it grows you will avoid conflict. I can tell you that you are in the right place, but I can also tell you that no ones likes to spoon feed here. You're going to have to look around and see what is working for the top companies, then plan accordingly.

I want to try and stay away from low dollar orders. It's not worth the hassle to be processing 20 $5 orders instead of 1 $100 order. Especially if I keep the profit margins the same. I fully intend on going to different sites as I wouldn't hustle people like that here on BHW. How do you advertise your services/products? Do you just straight up pm someone or reply in the thread? I don't want to be THAT guy only selling stuff and not contributing to a forum. Other than major forums like DP, Wicked Fire, Warrior Forum where would you recommend finding customers?

I don't know what type of conflicts you would be referring to. There's a difference between "spoon feeding" and having an open conversation. I've been at BHW long enough to know the difference. I've been modeling my website after a few companies that I like. However it looks like most people just push smaller dollar orders. I don't like having to nickle and dime people. I'd rather just have higher dollar reoccurring monthly prices. The "one-off" products and service may have a place, but take a backseat to creating actual margin. It's nice to have another vertical to increase revenue though.

Interesting.. I am gonna start on the same route. Pre Panda/Penguin, I had a decent run at DP. And was banking $1 - 2k per month in profits. I failed to adapt to the new changes and I stopped.

I am gonna start over. I guess the best way is to join forums with reasonable traffic(Not the top tier ones). Become active in the SEO section there, help out people and promote your service. Have your service thread up and deliver good results.

Like someone suggested, ranking for long tails is another option. I am definitely going to consider this option now.

Another option is to guest blog at authority SEO blogs. I was accepted on a few quality ones. Take a look. I was promoting some one elses site in those posts though. But, you can imagine they would bring targeted traffic as well as help with authority.
