    Hello folk... ;-D

When should I use Reseller-programs instead of affiliate, and what is the advantages of Reseller-programs instead of getting a "big" payment in a affiliate in one time... I am thinking about webhosting..
    Any suggestions?

Are you talking about setting up your own webhosting site?

i.e. are you asking if a dedicated server is better then a VPS? Or just referring people to other host providers?

I would say going the affiliate route would be better. You make your money when they sign up and you are done with them.

If you set up a reseller acount. You will need to build a web site which is not hard to do. but then you will have to deal with customers not paying, and asking some of the off the wall questions.

I do not wany to Hijack this thread, but I think it goes inline with the OP question.

As a reseller, who is responsible for providing technical support. I've had the same idea as the OP but have not moved forward. If someone stays with their host for more than 1-year, the reseller looks like the best option. But getting the money up front is great.

OP, if you do not want others to respond, let us know and I'll post somewhere else. Thanks.

Just remember that you have to wait 60+ days for most hosting affiliate programs to pay you.

If you choose the reseller option you can have your customers pay you right away.

I contemplated this same conundrum recently and came to the conclusion that the affiliate option is more of a short-term cash solution, while being a reseller is a long-term business plan. I have no scientific data to back that up though. :p

Just one more thing to consider on your path to world domination...:bling:

    No..no..

Having a reseller account is by far the way to go. Not only
is it Your Own Biz , but the potentials are limitless.

You get paid on the spot , you make the price, you are in control.
Waiting 60 days for HG to say "sorry" is not the way to go.
As far as support the company you get the reseller account from is the
main support line. If at anytime you get stuck they Must help
    the situation you are in.

If you are worried about making a website for your own Hosting Biz ,
then go ahead and be an affiliate and hope all your energy, resources ,
time , and investments are being recognized by the affiliate company. Hope being the word.

I recommend InnoHosting.com. They provide end-user tech support 24/7 which means that you can spend your time on BHW while support helps your customers.

I think Affiliate marketing is great to start with and as you better determine how to market your affiliates and start to have higher conversions and better understand which offers catch the attention of your customers, you can then start your own hosting company.
