I'm looking into reseller hosting and hoping those with experience can offer some input. Is it worth it or does it take up too much of your time with customer support?

I'm only looking at 10 domains atm, but don't want to get into it if there's a time issue.

Thanks!

I run a reseller host, I barely make a profit, though if you don't offer support for certain things people won't waste your time with support for certain things, IE Wordpress or cPanel.

Are you talking about becoming a reseller for wild west domains or similar? WWD provide the 24/7 customer support so you wouldn't have to.

Thanks leprakhauns, that's a good point about the support, I'd assumed ppl would assume they would get full support, lol. Say's a lot about me maybe ;)

Cogofwar - do you have shares in the company? lol Thanks for the info :0)

Well you run a hosting company, why would you provide support for Wordpress if you didn't create Wordpress?

Oh well yes that's true, I was thinking on an installation level with an auto installer, if anything went wrong would you be obliged to support the client?

I made some good profit from reseller hosting. I think its a good method. I made a forum on the site. for competition and stuff giving something out time to time.

And add adsense to the forum.

Since hosting is a good keyword for adsense. it will turnout good. and the competition makes more people come in.

You pay less to get more.

About the support. You will have problem at first cuz some people just don't know what they are doing. If you get hard questions just get them to the support of the owners of the hosting. They will sort it out.

Installation messing up with Fantastico can't really have support, just try it yourself and if not talk to the host, but installation with them installing it or changing themes or something that is outside the norm I wouldn't provide support for.

If fantastico is having problem then search for hosting using softaculous.

1. Start Small

2. Provide credible support

3. Target a niche audience

4. By experience, it has been found that targeting your local community is much much profitable than trying to compete on the web.

Thanks folks :0) I think I'll go with clfox's recommendations, sounds great to me.

Anyone have experience with a particular resale hosting company that they can recommend?

I decided to have a reseller hosting account because the cost of hosting comes out cheaper. Since I have several domains, I have to get individual hosting for each one. But with a reseller account, the cost per domain is now almost half.
