So I'm doing local SEO for a client. They initially were doing black hat activities, though they didn't realize it. They were keyword stuffing. I immediately went in there and changed it. Their site is officially white hat and optimized for SEO. It has improved dramatically in the rankings and the slow link building is in process.

However, their competitors are using black hat techniques. Their SEO is terrible so we'll beat them anyway. But a quicker way may be to just report them for keyword stuffing and get them deindexed. However, I don't want to report them, I don't want Google to look at my clients website and see SEO work being done :pirate:so, does anyone have any ideas on how I should report them without it being traced back to me? Thanks :D

So why the fuck report them? Leave them be if you're so sure you'll beat them. There was just a thread about this and the guy got dropped from the index right after he reported. Why risk a client's success if you don't need to?

Agreed. I'm particularly bitter because he's been sending incredibly rude emails which is IMHO quite uncalled for. So the sooner we ranked him the sooner he was gone ;) I'll keep my clients website safe and just beat them at the game.

 if they are breaking the rules, and are sending rude emails, then I don't see why I shouldn't report them. My client comes first, pirates don't, sorry :pirate:

You are breaking Google's rules because you are attempting to manipulate search engine rankings, white hat or not, so there's a good chance you can say goodbye to your rankings if you report him.

If you really wanted, you could post on company review sites or even open up a domain and post their rude e-mails to show they may not be a friendly company, but this is still an iffy tactic at best.

Exactly. This is why I shouldn't report them. Because my clients rankings may get hit. Even though Google don't slap other companies for doing SEO, you never know what might make them mad, it is best to never invoke them in the first place :) All is fair in war, I have no moral problem reporting them for blatant black hat activity, but not if it hurts my client.

Their company already has bad reviews and is blacklisted, so negative reviews aren't much point, however they are threatening to post negative reviews against my client, what an ass.

Don't be silly; you can't report them in that manner.
If they are sending you unpleasant emails simply inform them that
you did NOT opt into their list and they have 24 hours to remove you.
Keep this email. Then, whether they email you or not, the next day, repeat the first email and remind them that should they not remove you from their list you will forward your complaint to the FBI. Done.

As to general reporting your competition; I get screwed over by this one company all the time. I'm an affiliate so I can use their affiliate promotional pictures and stuff but I hate their grossly overpriced product and I say so. Everytime I beat them on Googles first page, which I do at least twice a month, they contact whomever I'm on page one with, such as fb or back in the good days, squidoo ( I kicked their ass with squid).
SO, hell yeah report competitor's, it's a dog eat dog world people. I won't hesitate to run someones ass over to get mine before it all comes crashing down.

That being said I also won't harm someone just for the fun of it. If someone's bh'ing me on page one and I'm wh'ing then he's taking my money as far as I'm concerned so he gets the bat to the head. Nooooowwww, hehe, if I'm bh'ing too then I'd be dumb as shit to cry wolf and cut my own throat. These are perfectly moral and consistant stances.

This aint the playground boys and girls, it's real life, get it on or get a bigger bat.

Don't worry sooner or later they will suffer the consequences of their actions. what I don't understand is when they know they are doing something wrong, why bully others. Report them and hound them back to where they belong.
