I've decided to rent out an office overlooking the river Thames mainly as a work space and a little area to chill from home.

I'm upgrading all my current PC/Laptop systems.

Basically need some suggestions how to make a really productive work environment.

Pictures of your current Office set ups / Monitors /PC's Set ups would be really appericated.

    Good lord, what a troll.

The guy's excited about his office, and wants to share that, and wants some feedback. Seriously, did someone's accounts get banned today or what?

Personally, I'd go with a couple 21"+ monitors, an Aeron chair and a desk big enough that you will have double the space you think you want. I'd get a nice pre-built server that has a few TB of storage space with a nice fast ethernet so you can store files, stream media, etc to any computer in your office. Also, a HW firewall would be good. That's just off the top of my head.

    Second that graphic.

@OP, What i can recommend with my limited knowledge, is to make your work environment a work environment.
Don't put anything fun there of you'll be distracted.
    For PC's get c2d 2.2ghz+ and 2gbs ram+

that's all i have for nwo.

Corner computer desk (i find long tables are 100x better and especially corner ones in the shape of an L)
These have plenty of room for dual monitors, laptops, paper, paper racks.

Id get one of those first and a comfortable chair they are main priority.
Your next option is a kettle, microwave, fridge, as if your doing long hours there these are essential!

Next best thing is a heater, unless the office will have good heat!, and a fan vice versa if it gets too hot and you dont have aircon.

Your next essentials will obviously be internet connection (priority) computer, monitors, i always prefer 2!, printer, scanner, and a filing cabinit is always good for storing important docs from affiliate networks, also have one of those paper racks with like 3 stacks, name them, Incoming , Outgoing, and Look Later, incoming is stuff you need to do, outgoing is shit you need to post out, look later is general ideas you dont have time yet to do.

Whiteboard is good, as ideas tend to waste a ton of paper and always get binned. , A radio is good for providing entertainment, yes music can change your work mood, dont get a tv its a distraction!

I would also get a nice spare computer i would recommend macs, with webcam, and stream your office live on something like www.ustream.tv with it facing your desk, with your companys website.com on full view! This will attract people to watch you daily, can grow into a following, and also get your site some visits! And ofcourse bring customers depending on what your going to do.

I would also recommend you think whether you want a real landline number or VOIP, voip is excellent choice as most give you a local number anyway, i use mostly multiple www.sipgate.co.uk (does worldwide local numbers too) its free, and for a simple $20 or so they give you like 7000 free minutes or some unlimted package.

I would also recommend a Western Digital Mybookworld External Hard Drive, They come in 1TB and 2TB these are great, and they run on linux so you can putty in and hack away, for things like apache, mysql you can host your own stuff from it, i wouldnt go to expensive to start, until you sit in the office for a month, then plan what you need. Remember a lot of people who think they will enjoy an office, wont a month down the line, so go easy to start with.

Prolly that will get you started, anything else is a comfort. And thats where personal choice comes in.

Keep it chill.. Like a good type office setting with nice colors. Some good low lightings and calming wall posters.. Get a tri-monitor setup, fax machine, printer, dart board.. Can fax over papers/ideas from home to office or visa versa..

Streaming from your office(like harro said) outside focused on your view could also be a good way to bring in a few extra bucks per month.. Just embed the stream to a throwaway site with banner ads about webcams or some shit. It could get tedious due to traffic, but their good to look back on..

Theres really not much to it for an office.. Try to be optimistic and think if this will benefit you in the long run.. If your dealing with stress from working online, then it may only be a temp cure until you get used to your new setting.. However, having a view is always nice :)..

Why are you deciding to put forth money for an office? Just curious.
