    Hey guys,

I had this idea of renting a nice apartment somewhere warm (southern Europe) for a short period of time.
As the rent and cost of living could be a bit lower there, and flights are really cheap these days, I might break-even or even save some money doing so. I would cancel my rent and have someone store my stuff at no cost, as I'm planning to move anyway.

Has any of you ever done this? What was your experience and which countries / areas would you suggest for this?
A fast or at least decent internet connection is an absolute must, as well as a safe and friendly area to live in.

I'm living in Portugal and living costs here are really low if you're good with USA costs

Never lived in Europe (outside of the UK), but traveled a bit. Portugal is a pretty cool spot (great seafood!); Barcelona seemed cool too, but a bit big for my taste; Greece (Athens) is ok, but very touristy (Santorini is awesome if you're into island life); however, I'd live in Italy first (except Milan--not my fave). I think you can always find an affordable place in any country/city; why not just backpack around Europe a bit and call everywhere home? Air BnB or hostels would be a cheap way to see Europe.

I spend a lot of time in Spain when it is in season, but I would never stick my things in storage and have nowhere to go back to.

Spain is now in the middle of real estate crisis. Just look along the shore somewhere near large city like Barcelona, you should be able to find very cheap apartments to rent.

That definitely sounds like fun but I need a fixed place where I can run my business from home or home office. Having uncertain online times is not an option as I need to work and communicate with clients daily. Since I want to move anyway into an apartment here (at about €650 - €850 a month) I figured; might as well spend late summer somewhere else for a couple of months and sniff up another culture, have nicer weather and break-even or even save money doing so.

Things need to be planned out properly when moving back and keep a good line of communication with the agency back home so I can move in quickly. If necessary, I could spend some time at family members or hotel.

Thanks for that generous offer buddy, I'll make sure to hit you up when I start planning this, probably 2 to 4 months from now.
