So I have the ability to procrastinate.

At the moment I live with my parents.

I'm 24 so this is really annoying.

    Should I rent an office?

My fear is that I rent one and it doesn't help much.

So I need advice, did it work for you?

No point of renting an office when you can go to the library. It's the same thing. Save the money for moving out.

Yes. Went from making a few k a month to 5-6 figures a month within a couple of years. I was way too lazy to work at home.

Why do you think renting an office will help?
Renting an office can make you more productive but from the sounds of it, you will still procrastinate there and be paying for the privilege.
Only rent an office if your business requires it.

Move out before you get an office.

I'd work from a proper working environment, not sitting on an executive desk and chair in my bedroom. Money spent on a proper office is an investment, not an expense.

Work part aside - that is obvious - one other thing to mention is motivation and health.

When you're at home all day you tend to sit around and be lazy. You don't go outside as much and it's easy to be unhealthy and feel like crap. This isn't very motivating.

When you're at an office you have to physically leave everyday. It makes you feel so much better about yourself and what you're doing. You tend to go out and do more things like meeting friends for lunch and hitting the gym on the way home.

Overall it will improve your work and your life.

    Invest in the office bro.

Your productivity will go through the roof. It is way too easy to screw off at home and not get focused. When your at the office, you are there for a reason!

Just my take, I know a lot of people will be/are telling you to move out first. However, I believe investing in your business is the best choice you can make.

    Excuses, excuses.

We find excuses everyday why we don't succeed and why nothing gets completed.

    - "It is to loud at home"
    - "I'm not motivated enough"
    - "I procrastinate"
    - "I get distracted easily"

    Excuses upon excuses.

If you are really money hungry, you will work in any environment to succeed!

I do this when I write some of my assignments, but instead of white noise I usually listen to music. Some say it's counterproductive, but I like it.

For actual work, I use the university's facilities for student entrepreneurship, which makes me get out, break the habit of slouching in my room or on the couch with my laptop. I've ended up going to the gym 4-5 times a week thanks to this.

Lot of good points in this thread, but an office won't necessarily fix procrastination, that is between your ears.

24 years old living with parents. You should consider moving out somewhere else. I mean you only need like $300 for a flat if you're from Europe, $200 for food and $200 for everything else. If you aren't making that much, you gotta start working harder.

alone for a place to live its around $1000 at cheapest, and thats not including any bills.

The thing is if I move out, I won;t have the money to buy VPs etc all those little things that add up.

If the office will make you work harder , go for it, but in my oppinion moving away from home would be a better benefit for you if you can afford that. That would force you to do a lot of other things you don't do currently and therefore you would become a bit more hard working person.

Paying the bills would force you to work harder.

It's all about personality , for some people that's enough to setup a proper plan and execute it either easier or harder way disregarding the actual financial state, other need to face a sort of poverty state to start doing anything.

Depends where you live. In the UK you're not getting anything for $300. Triple that and you might have a chance.

At some point an office is a must, but I guess that depends on what you do and how serious you are about it. But if you can't stay focused, an office won't change that.

An office will be just another place to hide and arse about if you dont have the right mindset.

You would probably be suited to finding yourself a partner. Having two people working on the same project and trying to get things done is a great motivator.
