I am not sure how likely this is to work, I have not tested this but I can imagine that if you managed to get in with a store worker then this would be very very profitable. I don't think this has been posted before so here's the method (It's very simple):

Ask a store worker at a local DVD rental shop to put a leaflet in every DVD case that is rented.

Leaflet = Free DVD trial, rentals, online, links to your domain.

Your domain redirects to CPA offer. E.g. LoveFilm, BlockBusters.

I can imagine it to be very hard to manage to get a store worker to do this for you without them getting the sack but if you did manage then think of the potential.

I strongly doubt they'd be cool with this, and once the person has a subscription or whatever set up with the place already, would they really be willing to join some website instead/as well? Doesn't seem likely to me, but hey, who knows? It could work...
Although unlike me, at least your contributing and seem to be making money, so I guess I can't really say anything :p

There is no way a store worker will just let you advertise like that.

Perhaps if you live in an area with a lot of RedBox (DVD rental) machines, you could post a flyer on them promoting the same thing. I'm sure a store worker would take them off in a fairly short period of time, but if you have access to a large number of these in a small area, perhaps you could make some coin.

You'd probably have to stand outside the front door handing out leaflets.

Just made a load of fliers, go to every supermarket, HMV and any other place which sells DVD's and leave a pile on the shelves of the top ten chart.

Not a bad idea i think this might work with the smaller local DVD shops,(maybe place a leaflet in the bag) but the big guys wont give you the time of day.

That would be a waste of leaflets. Since all these people are not targeted what so ever. But by giving out leaflets for video rental cpa offers in dvd rental shop will greatly increase the conversion rate and save a lot of money on leaflet producing costs.

I really don't think this would work. Plus all the manual labor.... That's a lot of work to make and print those leaflets. But thumbs up to you for out of the box thinking

This will not work. Most likely there will be video surveillance in the store so it'd be an easy thing to stop if 1 person complained. The manager/owner would flip, lol.

It's similar to doing things like:

    1. Putting biz cards in related library books and having the library call and warn you
    2. Buying a newspaper, taking them all, put your in flier, then you put the newspapers back
    3. Or, easier just pay the paper boy to put inserts in for you, but they will get fired. It's easy to catch - it happened to my friend when we sold papers every Sunday morning, lol

Good start though, I'm sure you could carry it further to make it more safer.

This would totally work. You just need a sly motherfucker on the inside. Or a rental shop that doesnt have onsite management.

There are alot of corner stores it my area that rent out videos. Im sure you could ask the owner or whoever was working at the time to toss one in. Of course offer them something in return. Preferibly not a cut in your profits.

Think about it this way, a video store worker. Come on, it isn't exactly the greatest job in the world and no offense to them but they are not going to be the smartest people in the world either, offer them a few $$$ and I'm sure hey would think about it.

Maybe this will not work with the big guys, then go for the little guys with small DVD/CD shops.

Or, try that in cinemas. You know that people who go there love movies. And also you will not be "stealing" cinemas customers as you kind of would when doing it in DVD rental. Perhaps u could get something printed on the recite or even get some advertising time on the screen.

Because it is on the leaflets the AM will never know what they say so you could even throw in a quick incentive. Saying something like Sign up now and you could win 50 cinema tickets.
