Read what seemed like a great tip on blf but the poster doesnt seem to have been online for a while so I'll ask here too.

It was proposed that one should rename the wp plugins folder and then dissallow access to it via robots txt to prevent G from getting in there and penalizing you for any seo type plugins.

Thoughts on this? I would like to implement this but I am afraid if I just rename the folder, wp wont be able to access it and I'm not sure how to fix that. Then I suppose I would just add the specific renamed folder name to my robots.txt file?

Thanks for any help on this yall

You can also upload a blank index.html file to the folder which will stop people from seeing what plugins you have in the folder or use htacesss

Interesting, how would I do that? That wouldn't throw G off from indexing my real site? Sounds like it could help prevent against hacks too via no htaccess

Use a plugin like GD press tools, it will add the index for you. There are others that will do that, search for one you like in WP plugin repository
