    Hi everyone,

I will admit that I am sort of novice when it comes to PBN and advanced link building since I stepped the foot into this area just few months back. But I learnt a lot over this course and improved a lot, nearly perfecting this in all new setups now.

However, learning the hard way, I had used SER (contextual links only) on T1 of these 4-5 money sites that I created. I am not sure what happened, but one way or another, 80% of these sites got hit (not sure if kw over optimization or what, it was roughly 20% or so). Most were ranking on P2 (were going to climb P1 if all went well but oh well...). It's a mystery because the rest 20% followed same process but didn't took a hit.

Anyway, my main question is that I have 8 or so PBN sites that I used to link to "ALL" of them. Now, since they got hit, I am worrying whether I should drop the PBN links too (just eliminating link from article). I am worried that if I keep it, my PBN might not get hit as well (deindexed).

So, what are your opinions on this? Leave it intact or remove links from all PBN sites? I guess it won't look natural but what would be your take on this? Have you been in a similar situation before? What did you do?

    Thanks a lot.

don't do anything unless you found the actual problem, guessing won't help, go figure out what went wrong

Thanks. Tried my best to investigate like I said. Same strategy was also used on 20% of the sites that was not penalized, leaving me puzzled.

I am open to more advice and suggestions too.

If your PBN was "discovered" you'd have those domains deindexed. You misused SER somehow, and that got you hit. Remove the posts from the PBN that are linking to the penalized domains, no point linking to them now. Leave the rest as they are.

The 80/20 thing might be because Google is trying to figure out what is the acceptable linking/anchors/etc based on the niche - in some niches you link using only the brand, while in others it's only keywords/partial matches (this goes for what natural linking looks like in those niches). See if there are any niche wide differences between those, and by niche wide I mean grab a handful of closely related keywords and analyze the top5 or so, mainly in the anchor text portfolios, and see how they differ from yours.

    Nice answer, thanks a lot.

One thing which I got confused when you said:

Remove the posts from the PBN that are linking to the penalized domains, no point linking to them now.

Do you mean removing entire article or just the links inside them? What would look more authenticate and natural? Removing link or entire article itself?

I'd remove them altogether. Removing just the link wouldnt look natural at all.

Thanks again for the advice. I guess I will wipe the articles altogether then.
