I just found a fantastic expired domain, aged 14 years dot net, with a small link profile, which were ALL relevant to topic and had great metrics. It is a 20k monthly search, with an overreaching broad spectrum of topics. I am using an ambiguous keyword and wanted to go the direction of a magazine site for plenty of interaction. Can be used for different t things. Example: turbo can bring turbo charger results and turbo tax.

The question, is how will Google see these irrelevant backlinks, and will I be penalized or anything negative?

Google wont ban you for irrelevant links.

Irrelevant links might pass less link juice but its ok.

Whoops, meant to say the ORIGINAL backlings are relevant to the ORIGINAL keyword, but not how I want to use it now... I think your answer works to what I was trying to ask anyway haha!

    Yeah, same thing. :)

If you can try to find/get niche related domains but if not its ok.

I also heard of people building a few links to the PBN domain to give it some niche relevancy.
