We all know what clicking on http://a:b@google.com/ will lead you to www.google.com, but does anyone know the effect that a basic auth URL has on SEO?

The reason I'm asking is because there is a filter that a:b@domain will get past that domain.com doesn't, what will be the downside, if any?

    Thanks,
    rch
