    Hi guys,

I am planning to register for a business name in Australia, or ACN to be exact, but I don't want it to be linked with my name. What do you guys suggest me to do? Any suggestion?

To clarify, it sound like to me you want to operate with a trading name rather than an individual. You have to register as an Australian Private Company I believe.

Check out the FAQ at the ABR's website: http://abr.business.gov.au/Faq.aspx#bntndifference

That way, when client's look up your ABN via the ABN Lookup, it'll simply return the Business name. Here's a full list of Entity Types who can register for, depending on what you actually want to achieve.
    http://abr.business.gov.au/EntityTypeList.aspx

The Government still need to know it's you behind the company, but it shouldn't have to be publicly available via the general look-up.

Hi dubious, thanks for the links & suggestions. However, I believe you need an ACN before you apply for an ABN, right?

@ClThis, do you have any suggestion where I can get a nominal director & how much would it cost?

Not gonna happen unless you try hard to make it happen brah. You need reliable contacts in Australia.

What CLThis means is that you need an Aussie to vouch for you. Expect to give the person a bit chunk of your business, and take a risk that they could cut you out of your own business.

Can you give me a brief idea of what your business will be? Do you need premises and a person on the ground, or is it just to launch a website?

I managed it - but it was difficult and a bit of a faff. I'm a UK citizen and had contacts there already, and needed a returns address for an ecommerce site.

I think you'd have to be prepared to go to Australia to meet your guy.

If you need advise PM me.

Hi JimmyWong, thanks for the heads up. It sounds like it's going to be a tough journey to register a business there... So is it a requirement to have an Australian for the registration?

Depending largely on where you're from. You need an ABN number.

Where are you from? And why does it have to be anonymous?

There's a lot of variables mate.

It actually don't have to be anonymous, I just don't want people to know it's me who is the boss when they do the ACN or ABN lookup...

Meh, sounds dodgy and not worth a serious reply.

Good luck in whatever you have planned.

I have already found the agent that can help with the registration. Sorry for the lack of quick response. Thanks anyway Jimmy.
